  • Working knowledge of computer: Unlike other exams, BITSAT is not a pen paper test. Since it is a computer based exam so you need to have the working knowledge of computer. In fact, try to attempt some mock test on the system so that you don’t get confused on the final day.
  • Preparation Schedule: How meticulously and intelligently you plan your preparation will actually decide your success or failure in the exam. The strategy will depend on the time you have. In the initial days, study all the concepts in detail, focus and work on your weak areas and spend time on clearing your doubts. But, when the exams are approaching do not try to read any new topic as it will only create confusion. Moreover, even if you study it, you won’t be able to master it well for the exam.

  • Practice as much as you can: Practice is the only key to success. Try to solve maximum possible questions as this also aids in improving speed. Attempt wide variety of MCQs covering the entire syllabus. Solving different questions helps in knowing various methods of attempting questions. Try to use various shortcut methods and tricks to save time.
  • Sample Papers: Solving numerous sample papers can take you nearer to your dream. This helps you in knowing what kind of questions you can expect in the exam. But, in addition to this, you must also practice at least 3-4 mock tests on the system in order to get acquainted with the online examination.
  • Importance of breaks: Plan frequent breaks after covering some portion of syllabus. Do not cut down your social life as it’ll ignite your stress levels. Do some yoga as it refreshes the mind and cuts down stress. Watch your favorite shows, plan morning walks and be relaxed.
  • How to proceed in the exam: The paper is divided into 5 sections – Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Logical Reasoning and English. You must begin with the section you are most confident about. Generally it is recommended to start with either Physics or Mathematics as you are less likely to commit calculation mistakes in the beginning. Recommended line of action is Physics → Mathematics→ Chemistry→ Logical Reasoning→ English.
  • Avoid making wild guesses: Since there is negative marking for incorrect answers, so avoid selecting options randomly. Instead, first remove the option which is least likely to be correct. Now guessing from the remaining three options would reduce the risk factor a great deal.
  • Time management: Allocate separate time to every section and try to adhere to the set time frame. You must decide all this in advance so as to avoid any last minute confusion. If you get stuck in a particular question, without wasting a single second you must switch to the other questions. If possible, you must also try to save some time for revision.

The exclusivity of BITSAT lies in the fact that it is an online test. So, it is important to attempt some online mock tests in order to judge how exactly you should proceed on the final day. Some students fail to keep a check on time, while others keep their eyes fixed on watch. This only creates panic and hence should be avoided. Your aim should be to attempt maximum questions in given time frame with maximum accuracy.

Just follow these tips and realize your dream of cracking BITSAT!

All the best!

To get admission to the BE course at the BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus, students are required to appear in BITSAT. As per previous years' cutoff stats, it has been analysed that the minimum scores are between 230 and 250. But with 250 marks, the chances are less of getting selected.
