BITSAT 2026 Refund Policy

BITS Pilani has provided clear guidelines regarding fee refunds and withdrawal from the admission process. The amount refunded depends on when a student decides to withdraw. Before accepting a BITSAT admission offer, students should carefully consider their preferences and backup options. The earlier a withdrawal request is submitted, the higher the refund amount is likely to be. Students who are waiting for admission through JoSAA, state counselling, or other private universities should keep track of withdrawal deadlines to avoid unnecessary deductions.

Can Students Withdraw After Getting a Seat?

Yes. Candidates who receive an admission offer through BITSAT can withdraw their admission. However, the refund amount depends on the stage at which the withdrawal request is submitted. Students who receive a seat and decide not to continue should complete the withdrawal process through the official admission portal during the withdrawal window announced by BITS Pilani.

Withdrawal During the Early Stage

If a student accepts the admission offer and later withdraws during the first withdrawal window, only a small processing charge is deducted. The remaining amount is refunded to the candidate. According to the admission guidelines, the deduction is generally Rs. 1,000 for withdrawals made within the specified withdrawal period. This is the safest option for students who are waiting for admission in another institute.

What Happens If a Student Does Not Report?

Students who accept a seat but fail to report to the allotted campus on the reporting date will face a higher deduction. In such cases, BITS Pilani may forfeit 10% of the admission fee and first-semester tuition fee before processing the refund.

Refund After Reporting to Campus

The refund amount decreases once a student reports to the campus and completes admission formalities.

Withdrawal Within the Initial Period

If a student reports to the campus and later withdraws within the prescribed period, around 20% of the admission and tuition fee may be deducted. Hostel charges, mess charges, and other expenses incurred during the stay may also be deducted.

Withdrawal After a Longer Stay

Students withdrawing after a longer period may lose up to 50% of the admission and tuition fee. Additional deductions for hostel and mess facilities may also apply.

Late Withdrawal

Candidates who withdraw much later in the semester may lose the entire admission fee and tuition fee. Only refundable components such as the caution deposit may be returned, subject to institute rules.

What About Waitlisted Candidates?

The rules for waitlisted students are different. Candidates who remain on the waiting list cannot apply for withdrawal during the regular withdrawal windows. If a student does not receive any seat by the end of all admission iterations, the deposited amount is refunded as per the institute’s guidelines.

How Long Does the Refund Take?

BITS Pilani states that applicable refunds are generally processed within 30 working days after the admission process closes. Students should ensure that their bank details are correct while submitting the withdrawal request.

To get admission to the BE course at the BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus, students are required to appear in BITSAT. As per previous years' cutoff stats, it has been analysed that the minimum scores are between 230 and 250. But with 250 marks, the chances are less of getting selected.
