The rankings will be available across 17 categories (Overall, Universities, Colleges, Research Institutions, Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Medical, Dental, Law, Architecture and Planning, Agriculture & Allied Sectors, Innovation, Open University, Skill University, State Public University, Sustainable Development Goals).
Initiated by the MHRD in September 2015 to standardise higher education benchmarks in India, the NIRF ranking criteria for engineering colleges across India are based on five metrics:
- Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR)
- Research and Professional Practice (RP)
- Graduation Outcomes (GO)
- Outreach & Inclusivity (OI)
- Perception (PR)
