CLAT 2018 is the means through which aspirants can secure admission in UG as well as PG programmes offered at colleges accepting CLAT scores for admissions. The test pattern for UG course admission is such that aspirants need to attempt 200 questions in 2 hours duration. Questions in CLAT UG are asked from subjects such as – English including Comprehension, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability), Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning. On the other hand, the test pattern of CLAT PG is such that candidates need to attempt 150 multiple choice questions in 2 hours duration. Questions in this exam are from subject areas like Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence and Other law subjects (Contract, Torts, Criminal Law, International Law, Environment Law and Human Rights, etc.)
Shiksha reported live from IIMT College of Engineering, Greater Noida where a total of 346 students appeared for CLAT 2018. Most of the students who took the exam shared that the exam was good but it was extremely lengthy. Due to this many students were not able to complete their CLAT exam on time. Also, students were quick to share that they were glad that the dust storm hit just when the exam was about to get over otherwise they would have faced problem while giving the Computer Based Test (CBT).
However, students who gave CLAT exam at DD college centre in Dehradun faced technical glitches while appearing for CLAT exam. Students who took the exam from this test centre shared that they were not able to view the questions asked in the paper for 10 minutes.
CLAT 2018 Difficulty Level
Hoping to secure admission in any of the top three NLUs, Saksham Goel a student of Purvanchal Academy said, “The exam was actually good but the paper was a bit lengthy, although I could complete the paper on time”. Talking about the section-wise difficulty level he said, “English was good. Legal Aptitude was a bit lengthy. Logical Reasoning was very lengthy but overall the paper was fine. Confirming the same, Sakshi shared that, “My exam was good. The legal part was very good and very easy. English was also very easy. But I faced problem of time. I couldn’t complete my paper on time”.
Hitesh shared that the exam was very easy for him. “I was very nervous about how I would fare in the Legal Aptitude section but it was the easiest section and I was expecting GK to be the easiest and it was little difficult for me”.
Talking to Savvy right outside her test centre for the law entrance exam in the massive dust storm that hit Delhi/NCR on May 13, Shiksha found out that there were no power cuts while students appeared for Common Law Admission Test. Talking about how her exam went, Savvy said, “It went pretty well. I found legal Aptitude section to be very easy. English was also very easy. Maths section I found to be difficult. GK section was very difficult because it had a lot of static GK”. She also shared that the test pattern was similar to that of last year’s paper.
“For me the Maths section was very difficult as I am weak in it. English was easy for me but unlike my expectation GK was moderate in terms of difficulty level”, shared Aniket Tyagi. Along same lines Hrishika shared, “Mathematics was the most difficult section of CLAT 2018 for me. Rest all sections were moderate for me but that can also be because I was not able to prepare well for the exam this time around”.
A student of Little Angels High School, Gwalior, Apoorva shared that, “The exam was ok. But the problem I faced was that there were many disturbances while giving the paper like there were too many things to sign”. She further shared the section-wise difficulty level of the exam by stating, “English was fairly easy. Logical Reasoning took a lot of time but it was ok. Legal Aptitude was above average (with respect to difficulty level) I would say and Maths was time taking and lengthy”. Talking about her college preference if she clears CLAT exam, Apoorva shared that her preferred colleges would be NLU Jodhpur and NLIU Bhopal.
CLAT Test Pattern as Compared to Past Year’s Paper
Most of the students who took CLAT 2018 shared that the exam this year was easier to that of last year. “The test pattern was a little different. But it was a lot better than last year’s CLAT exam”, said Saksham Goel. When asked how the exam was different from last year’s paper he said that the “sequence of questions was different. In previous years’ papers similar type of questions came together but this year it was all jumbled up”. However, he shared that the pattern and marking scheme of the law entrance exam was exactly as shared by CLAT authorities.
Even Apoorva felt that CLAT 2018 was a little different as compared to its previous edition. “There were a lot of surprises in the exam this year, for example, many questions were on the static portion in GK which was unlike past years’ question paper. And there were certain new elements which we did not expect like in Legal Aptitude there were more questions on Legal GK which was not the case in past years’ papers”, she said.
On the other hand, Sakshi felt that the test pattern of this year’s paper was similar to last year’s paper, she was quoted as saying, “I saw last year’s CLAT paper and this year’s paper was better than the last one. But the GK section was not better this time. It was the most difficult section for me”. The same was confirmed by Savvy who shared that CLAT 2018 test pattern was similar to that of the last year’s paper.

You can find it on many platforms, such as Lawprep Tutorial and Shiksha itself, but I'm a Law Prep student, and I found their format of solutions better.

Based on recent CLAT analyses, the English Language and General Knowledge & Current Affairs sections were rated as the easiest. English is more about reading comprehension with direct questions. GK is highly scoring for those with consistent, up-to-date daily news preparation.

Whether SLS Pune is better than an NLU really depends on what you want. SLS Pune gives a strong private college aura, with a good campus, nice location, and a good brand name. Many people think it's ahead of some low-tier NLUs (Tier 2 or Tier 3). But the top NLUs like NLSIU Bengaluru or NLU Delhi st
