AILET 2026 exam pattern will carry only three sections - English, Logical Reasoning and Current Affairs & GK. AILET 2026 question paper will be carrying 150 questions divided into these three sections. Check here the section-wise preparation tips for AILET 2026.

Section-wise Preparation for AILET 2026

The National Law University, Delhi, will conduct the AILET 2026 exam in a pen-and-paper-based test mode on December 14, 2025. To prepare for the exam, candidates need to know the AILET exam pattern and the subjects included in the different sections of the AILET question paper. As per the amended pattern of the exam (the pattern was changed in 2023), there will be three sections in the question paper: English, Current Affairs and GK, and Logical Reasoning.

Latest Update:

The AILET 2026 question paper for BA LL.B (Hons.) has 150 multiple-choice questions. The question division as per the three sections are: English Language (50), Current Affairs & GK (30), and Logical Reasoning (70). Candidates will get 120 minutes to solve the question paper.

It will be challenging for candidates to attempt three sections in the provided time. Thus, in this article, we have provided tips to prepare for AILET English, Current Affairs and GK, and Logical Reasoning. Using these tips will allow candidates to prepare well and complete the three sections within the provided short duration.

AILET 2026 Exam Pattern: Sectional Weightage

Before we go through the AILET 2026 section-wise preparation tips, here is the question paper pattern:

The preparation plan for this section carrying 50 questions should be as under:

Books to refer for AILET 2026 English - To prepare for the English section, candidates need to cover the conventional topics as well as, vocabulary, grammar and unusual words. The books recommended to prepare this section are

  • Objective English for Competitive Examination by Tata McGraw Hill
  • Quick Learning Objective General English by RS Aggarwal
  • 30 days to a Faster Vocabulary by Norman Lewis

Candidates need not go through all the books recommended for English above. They just need to evaluate their preparation level and, refer the books that give them a thorough understanding of the topics to be covered and practice papers. 

Tip to prepare for AILET 2026 English section - To ace this section, candidates need to prepare as under:

  • Daily vocabulary learning plan
  • Reading and comprehension skills need to be improved 
  • Practice at least 4-5 mock questions on a regular basis 
  • Make a plan to prepare on the weekdays and, revise on the weekends as recommended by AILET toppers in the past
  • Understand and learn the grammar rules in regular conversations
  • Watch English news channels to learn new words and usage

Candidates are not allowed to carry following items to AILET 2026 Examination hall:

  • Electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, calculators etc.
  • Handwritten notes
  • Manuals and digests
  • Any other form of study material

NLU Delhi conducted the AILET 2026 on December 14, 2025. The admission notification published on the official website - nludelhi.ac.in.

AILET 2026 exam was conducted on December 14, 2025 in online mode. AILET 2026 Result is available to download on the website. NLU Delhi released the AILET first merit list 2026 on January 8, 2026.

Many students feel the AILET exam is bit tougher than CLAT because it has fewer seats and high competition. The AILET syllabus focus more on reasoning and legal aptitude. Both tests need good preparation, but AILET 2026 usually has higher cutoff for AILET colleges under NLU Delhi.
