CLAT 2027 Colleges: With many law entrance exams across the country, the CLAT exam attracts the highest number of students. But many candidates don't know which colleges or universities accept the CLAT score. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) to shortlist candidates seeking admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes.
The exam is held for admissions to the NLUs in India, however, many private colleges and universities also accept CLAT scores for admission to law courses. The only NLU not accepting CLAT score is the National Law University, Delhi (NLUD), which conducts its own entrance exam; i.e. AILET for shortlisting candidates. Read further to know more about the colleges you can get admission to through CLAT score.

CLAT 2027: Law Schools Accepting CLAT Scores
Three types of law schools will accept CLAT 2027 scores to provide admission to their undergraduate and postgraduate courses:
CLAT Colleges 2027 - Participating NLUs
There are a total of 26 NLUs that are participating institutes of CLAT 2027.
- 5-year LLB - The integrated law program is offered by all 26 NLUs, with the seat intake standing at 3,213 seats.
- One-year LLM - The program is offered by 21 NLUs, which have a combined intake of 1,217 seats.
Affiliate Colleges of CLAT 2027
These colleges have signed MOUs with the consortium and use CLAT 2027 scores for admission purposes. In all, there are 61 affilates that are listed on the consortium website. But they also conduct their own entrance exams. This gives chance to those too who have missed the CLAT or did not score well.
Other Private law colleges
Unlike the affiliate colleges which have signed an MOU, some colleges that haven't signed any MOU may still use CLAT 2027 scores for admission purposes. The colleges that fall in this category may fluctuate the most in terms of their academic abilities as we move from one college to the next. So, you need to do robust R&D before you get admission into any of them.

Commonly asked questions
A bad rank in CLAT is relative and depends on factors like your category, the NLUs you target, and overall competition. For general category candidates, ranks above 15,000 to 20,000 are typically considered weak, reducing chances of admission into top or even mid-tier National Law Universities. For reserved categories, the threshold might be higher, but still, a rank significantly above the cutoff range may be viewed unfavorably. Ultimately, a "bad rank" hampers your chances of securing a coveted seat and may force you to consider alternative law schools or reattempt the exam in subsequent years. Improving your score remains essential.
A good rank in the CLAT exam for general category students is under 1,000–1,500 to secure admission in top-tier National Law Universities (NLUs). A rank under 500 is considered excellent for the top 5 NLUs, while a rank up to 3,000–5,000 can still secure a seat in newer, mid-tier NLUs.
As of 2026, 26 National Law Universities (NLUs) participate in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). These universities offer undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programs, with over 5,600 seats available in total. NLU Delhi is the only exception, conducting its own entrance exam (AILET) rather than participating in CLAT
