Types of Lawyers in India

A graduate from a law college is a lawyer. They are also called the pillars of Indian democracy. The work of a lawyer is to provide legal advice to clients, businesses, government officials and more. But they are not allowed to argue in the court unless they have the certificate of practice (COP). To get is certificate, a lawyer has to qualify the All India Bar Examination (AIBE)

Criminal Lawyer

A criminal lawyer speaks for the individual who is facing a criminal case. They help by filing the case, representing them in the court and applying for bail. A criminal lawyer handles cases such as kidnapping, murder, fraud, theft, etc.

Q:   How will I know if I am eligible to appear in CLAT exam or not?
A:

In order to know if you are eligible or not check the official notification and the eligibility criteria. There is no other way to check the the eligibility criteria.  Do not fill the form without checking the eligibility criteria. 

Q:   What if I am not satisfied with the CLAT seat allotment?
A:

If the candidates is not satisfied with the CLAT seat allotment result, they can either accept or opt for upgradingt the college alloted. The Freeze option is used by candidates to confirm their choice of NLU. Apply for upgrade option is used when candidates want to change the allotted institute to his or her higher choice (upward shifting).

Q:   Can I get NLU if my CLAT Rank is 1500?
A:

Yes, with a CLAT Rank of 1500, you have a very good chance of getting into several good NLUs. Some fo the NLU where your chances are high are NLIU Bhopal or NLU Jodhpur.

Civil Lawyer

The lawyer who looks after non-criminal cases like disputes, personal injury, contract issues, and more are civil lawyers. They stands for companies, individuals and governments in legal proceedings.

Corporate Lawyer

Corporate lawyers are also known as business lawyers. They deal in commercial laws. Their duties are to represent the company in legal proceedings, prepare the company's legal terms, represent in the court proceedings, make business policy, protect against legal risks and violations, and much more.

Q:   How many times I can appear for CLAT Exam?
A:

There is no restriction as such for the CLAT exam. Thus, one can give CLAT any number of times they want to. Candidates should not feel bad if they are not able to clear the CLAT exam in first time. 

Q:   Can I get admission in NLUs without clearing CLAT Exam?
A:

No you can not get admission to 24 participating NLUs without clearing CLAT Exam. For admission to NLU Delhi, you need to clear AILET Exam. 

Q:   How many merit list will be released by the Consortium?
A:

The Consortium will release atleast five merit list to complete the admission process through CLAT Score. However, the number of merit list might change in case of some discrepancy in answer key or result.

How to become a Lawyer?

If you want to be a lawyer, then get admission to law college. Complete 3 year LLB or 5 year integrated program. To get admission, you must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board with a minimum 60% marks. 

After your graduation, you will become a lawyer and can provide legal advice. To argue in the court and fight any legal cases, you have to register as an advocate. Before that, you need to qualify the AIBE and get a Certificate of Practice.

Yes Christ Academy Institute of Law accepts CLAT scores for admission to its law programs. Students with valid CLAT score are exempted from institute level written test. Other accepted exams include LSAT and AILET.

No, students do not need CLAT exam score for admission into BA LLB programme. The college offers merit-based admission based on score in Class 12. The students who score atleast 45% marks in Class 12 are eligible to apply for this course.
