The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) had scheduled the CLAT Exam 2026 on December 7, 2025. the CLAT Answer Key 2026 will be released on December 10, 2025, through which you can calculate your score. The Consortium published the exam pattern along with the official CLAT Notification. As per the CLAT 2026 exam pattern, the number of questions will be 120. Candidates will be shortlisted for admission to NLUs based on the CLAT Score 2026. Candidates will have to score well to confirm admission in one of the best NLUs.

So, as the number of questions is reduced to 120 now, candidates have to secure at least 100 marks (80 - 85%) to get into the top NLU of India. This will impact the category-wise CLAT good marks as well. In case the paper comes easy, the score of 90+ would be considered a good score for admission to the top 10 NLUs in India.

While it is bit challenging as its syllabus is not defined. Candidates can expect question on CLAT Current Affairs from anywhere. But if you do prepare well your chances to score high in this section also increases. The best way to prepare is to read the newspaper on a daily basis. Rest is to read GK books.

Hi Paras, The strategy for the GA portion is: Current Affairs: The Hindu Newspaper + Daily current affairs through any good online website (bankers adda, Mrunal, Insight, etc.). Also, focus on business, sports, international, national, etc. news Static GK: A basic knowledge of History, Geography and Sciences will suffice.Try to focus more on Indian history. The world history questions are rarely asked. In geography, the emphasis should be laid on world and Indian geography. For science, please focus more on the day to day general science questions. Also, give due weightage to Inventors, discoveries and past Nobel prize winners etc.

For undergraduate courses - 

  • Candidates securing higher marks in the legal aptitude section of CLAT UG question paper will be ranked higher

  • Finally, if the tie still exists, then a computerized draw of lots. 

For postgraduate courses -

  • Have a well-thought-out preparation plan: Try to devote at least one hour of your everyday time towards the preparation of Logical Reasoning section. Make a list of topics that you want to cover and create a deadline for yourself to finish the Logical Reasoning syllabus by that date.

  • Revision: Current Affairs and GK is such a vast area of knowledge that even if you manage to read everything but revise nothing, there is a good chance that you will end up forgetting everything. Therefore, time-to-time revision of what you read is a must in this section.
  • Discipline: While all the points and tips mentioned above are important, none of them will help if you are not able to keep yourself under discipline and dedicate proper time for the section. It is advisable to create a well-thought study plan and then strictly abide by it.

CLAT Current Affairs including GK: Syllabus & Important Topics

As the name suggests, the CLAT Current Affairs and GK section 2026 will include questions on both Current Affairs as well as static General Knowledge. The questions will be based on news, journalistic sources, and other non-fiction writings.

For Current Affairs, candidates should keep themselves updated about:

  • Major events happening nationally of at least last one year
  • Major events happening internationally of at least last one year
  • Events in legal domain nationally or internationally of at least one year

For Static GK, candidates should look on the below important topics and subjects:

  • Art & Culture
  • History
  • Legal domain

Although, the law aspect is moderate to low in CLAT exam, therefore, candidates should prepare key topics from the syllabus. Check complete details on CLAT syllabus.

You should understand that once you opt to get out of the counselling process you can not go back. You will get option to either freeze your seat or choose to let it go and participate in next round. You can anytime exit the whole process too.

No you can not get admission to 24 participating NLUs without clearing CLAT Exam. For admission to NLU Delhi, you need to clear AILET Exam.
