The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) will conduct the CLAT Exam 2026 on December 7, 2025. The Consortium published the exam pattern along with the official CLAT Notification. As per the CLAT 2026 exam pattern, the number of questions will be 120. Candidates will be shortlisted for admission to NLUs based on the CLAT Score 2026. While scoring well in the CLAT Exam is important, candidates must understand the significance of achieving a good rank in the CLAT 2026 Exam. The CLAT 2026 Rank will be influenced by several factors, primarily the marks obtained in the CLAT 2026. Before focusing on how to secure a high rank in CLAT 2026, it is essential to understand the entire ranking process. Candidates should note that a high CLAT rank will guarantee admission to one of the top-rated NLUs.

CLAT Ranks 2026

To shortlist candidates for the final seat allotment process, the exam authority arranges their names in order of merit. Therefore, the merit ranks of candidates qualifying CLAT exam are determined based on the following factors: 

In case there are ties in marks of two or more candidates, then the merit rank will be determined as under:

For undergraduate courses - 

  • Candidates securing higher marks in the legal aptitude section of CLAT UG question paper will be ranked higher 
  • In case of further tie, candidates older in age will be ranked higher 
  • Finally, if the tie still exists, then a computerized draw of lots. 

For postgraduate courses - 

  • Candidate older in age is ranked higher

  • Do not mug up; practice: While preparing for the CLAT Logical Reasoning section, do not mug up things, rather try to understand the concepts and logic. Once you have understood the underlying concepts, practice the questions related to a particular topic as much as possible.
  • Start with the easier topics and questions: Logical Reasoning is one section, in which if you understand the underlying logic, you will be able to solve the questions quickly. You don't have to worry. In case you have forgotten your ID and password, which is pretty much normal. You can go and click on the forgot password tab in the registration window. You will receive the mail and then you have to reset your password. Once day you will be able to login.

The last date to submit the application form is October 31, 2025. It must be noted that the consortium will open the application correction window after that. Sometimes the consortium do extend the last date for registration but it is better to fill the form way before and why to wait.
