The field of Journalism is no longer confined to print or electronic media but is also gaining popularity in digital mode due to the increasing proliferation of internet and technology. The demand for skilled professionals in this field has increased significantly as it includes all work profiles related to Print Media, Electronic Media, New Media, Radio Production, Film Production and TV Production. Several Diploma, Undergraduate, Postgraduate and PG Diploma courses have been designed to meet this demand. Generally, UG level Journalism courses are of 1-3 years duration, whereas PG level courses are of 1-2 years duration. Students can also take Journalism courses in several regional languages other than Hindi or English. Candidates can do these courses immediately after 12th or after completing their graduation. Types of journalism Courses- UG & PG
Since Journalism courses are focused on different job profiles, students should know about the respective institute and course before opting for any programme. They should also check their eligibility before they select the course to pursue. Journalism courses are of the following types.
Full Time Journalism Courses: This is a classroom-based undergraduate degree or a postgraduate degree course that has a three-year or two-year course duration respectively. Apart from these, candidates can also pursue various Diploma or PG diploma courses in Journalism.
Online/Distance Learning Journalism Courses: There are many platforms offering online Journalism courses. These are better options for those candidates who are short of time. These online courses are of both long and short duration. Many distance education universities also offer UG and PG distance learning courses in Journalism.
Journalism Certificate Courses: These courses are usually offered by journalism colleges as short-term courses. These courses are of three to nine months duration.
