MAT Preparation Poll

MAT Preparation Poll

MAT is conducted by AIMA for admission to over 800 MBA colleges in India. The exam is conducted in paper based test, computer based test and internet based test modes. MAT is considered one of the most student friendly MBA entrance exams in India, as candidates can appear for it multiple times in the same academic session. Candidates can choose to appear for MAT in February, May, August and December.

Q:   What are the parameters on which MAT participating college shortlist candidates?
A:
MAT participating colleges shortlist candidates on the basis of their past academic record, MAT score and performance in What/GD-PI. Some colleges also consider prior work experience in full time mode at executive or managerial level. In many institutes the scores of Class 12 is given a lot of importance, while in some colleges the score of MAT is considered the most important. Candidates must note that it is critical to have a good profile overall. An important point that MAT aspirants must know is that even though there is no minimum eligibility criteria of 50 percent for appearing in MAT the participating colleges have the minimum score criteria for full-time MBA Admission. Candidates should have scored a minimum of 50 percent in graduation (45 percent for SC/ST/PwD candidates), to be eligible for getting shortlisted for admission through MAT score. So, they should ensure they have at least the minimum score required in graduation before applying for MAT.

MAT Preparation 2025: Overall Strategy

MAT is an easy exam. Overall 6 months will be enough to prepare for it. Aspirants can make a 6-month strategy. Candidates must make use of all kinds of content for MAT preparation. An ideal strategy will be a combination of all five elements – mock test, conceptual explanation, step by step problem solving sessions and mock test.

  • Start with MAT syllabus coverage
  • Cover every topic section wise and solve practice questions
  • Practice full length and sectional MAT mock tests

MAT and CMAT both are moderately difficulty exam, but have their own challenges. While, CMAT has one extra section Innovation and Entrepreneurship, MAT has a separate section for Data Interpretation having 30 questions. With focused preparation, you can crack either of the two that you choose.
