CAT isn’t more about referring to a particular book but its more about referring to certain methods (tricks) or certain patterns you are comfortable with.
Common Admission Test (CAT) is not just about Math or English, it’s about your overall knowledge. So, if you are appearing for the CAT examination then you have to make sure that you know what is happening in the current world and your general knowledge should be updated with the things happening around the corner.
The main task is to never stop learning something new, practicing only makes you outdo in things. Also, whenever you feel you are done with own task for the day, never forget to re-revise it. Revision should be done thrice per day for the topics you have learned.

Here’s how you can manage your CAT studies with college work:
- First, stay focused on one goal that you have to pass with flying colors in the examination.
- Second, divide your subjects and task to be done in the time table so that it doesn’t clash. Make sure to follow it. Your college assignments or any other work should be completed in the precise hour so that you have enough time to study. I would also suggest that one should read the newspaper thoroughly for having knowledge of ongoing issues.
- Third would be concentrating on different sections where you think you are weak. You should give more time to that. And, at the end of the day when you go to bed, always revise. That would give you a clear sense of clarification of the complexity of subjects.
- Don’t ever skip the whole day without studying that might cause loss to you. For this consistency is an important part. But do not get frustrated, stressed or tensed up. Always indulge in one-hour activity where you feel relaxed or say more enthusiastic. For me, I would say indulging in sports activities gives me confidence. Eat healthy as that also keeps your body motivated and stay positive. If you don’t get the concept well, always seek help in short duration itself. Don’t wait for a longer period of time as it might break your flow of studying and might cause pauses.
CAT isn’t more about referring to a particular book but its more about referring to certain methods (tricks) or certain patterns you are comfortable with. Mock tests would always give the impression of how it will be. So being good at mock tests and class tests will give you an idea where you stand. The major part is time management. Six month preparation or more than that is enough if you had always stayed focused and followed the steps mentioned here.

Yes. IIMB does require the CAT exam, but the rest of the top B-schools in Bangalore also take in candidates through the state-level CET, ie, the Karnataka PGCET exam, or through MAT or CMAT.

IIM Calcutta has only mentioned accepting GMAT score for admission into EMBA courses.
However, CAT is commonly accepted by other similar institutes for both MBA and MBAEx courses. Thus, candidates are advised to ask admission desk for confirmation on this question.

It is not possible to determine a candidate's admission in IIM Calcutta MBA course through CAT score alone. In Stage 1, a score 85% in CAT will be enough for a general category candidate to be selected for PI+WAT admission stage.
Final admission cutoffs are based on many factors other than CAT score.
