"Danapur Student Khushboo Kumari Receives Direct Support from Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Paving the Way for Her Medical Aspirations"
A ray of hope has emerged for Khushboo Kumari, a bright student from Danapur in Patna district, after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan personally intervened to support her dream of becoming a doctor. Khushboo, who had aspired to study science and pursue medicine, had to enroll in the Arts stream due to her family's severe financial constraints. However, after her story went viral on social media, the minister assured her of full support and directed the local administration to facilitate her admission into the Science stream.
Dreams on Hold Due to Financial Struggles
Khushboo, a resident of Hetanpur in Danapur, completed her Class 10 education at a local higher secondary school. Despite scoring well, she found herself unable to take up Science in Class 11 due to her family's economic condition. Her father, Upendra Rai, a daily wage worker, struggled to make ends meet and could not afford the additional costs associated with Science education. As a result, he was left with no choice but to enroll his daughter in the Arts stream, dashing her hopes of studying Biology and eventually pursuing a medical degree.
Speaking to the media, Khushboo expressed her disappointment and helplessness. "I always wanted to be a doctor. It was not just my dream but also my father's. But due to financial difficulties, I had to opt for Arts instead. It felt like my aspirations were slipping away," she shared.
Viral Story Leads to Minister's Intervention
Khushboo's story gained widespread attention after local media outlets highlighted her plight. Her heartfelt appeal struck a chord with many, and soon, it reached the ears of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Taking suo motu cognizance of the matter, Pradhan arranged a video conference with Khushboo and her parents on Sunday.
During the conversation, Pradhan commended Khushboo for her determination and assured her that financial difficulties would no longer be an obstacle in her path. "You are a brave girl, and we will ensure that you continue your education without any hurdles. The government is committed to supporting talented students like you," he told her.
The minister further directed Patna District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh to personally oversee Khushboo's admission into the Science stream for the upcoming academic session (2025-27). He also instructed the administration to extend financial aid and other benefits under relevant central and state government schemes meant for students from economically weaker sections.
To pass the BSEB 10th final test, students should get a minimum of 30% in all individual subjects. However, the students are not required to score a minimum mark in English subject to pass the Bihar Board 10th exams. From the last year, the board is also considering a grace marking scheme for those who obtain 8 marks less than the minimum required marks. For such students, the board has the provision to award a maximum of 8 marks as grace and save them from failing.
After clearing the BSEB 10th exam, students have plenty of options to choose from. The best option for the BSEB class 10 passsout students have is opting for admission to class 11 exam. Yes, after clearing the BSEB 10th exam, you can enroll yourself in class 11 exam. You must select the stream as per your career goals. The other good option is to enroll yourself to Diploma programms suc as Polytechnic, ITI etc. Choose your option wisely as your career will depend alot on the decision you make this point of time.
A Family's Renewed Hope
Following the minister's assurance, Khushboo and her family expressed immense relief and gratitude. Her father, Upendra Rai, shared his emotions, saying, "I was heartbroken that I couldn't afford my daughter's education in Science, but now, with the government's help, she can pursue her dream. I am grateful to the minister and the administration for stepping in."
Khushboo's mother, Chunakshi Devi, echoed the sentiment. "We had almost lost hope, but now we feel that our daughter will achieve what she always wanted," she said.
Meanwhile, the Patna District Magistrate (DM) Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh reiterated the administration's commitment to ensuring that Khushboo receives all necessary support. "We have asked the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Danapur and the District Education Officer to closely monitor her case and facilitate her smooth transition into the Science stream. All financial and academic assistance will be provided to her," he stated.
A Broader Issue in Education Access
Khushboo’s case highlights a larger issue faced by many talented students across the country who are forced to compromise on their career aspirations due to financial hardships. While government scholarships and support schemes exist, many students are either unaware of them or struggle to navigate bureaucratic hurdles to access these benefits.

With government backing now in place, Khushboo is preparing to shift to the Science stream, a move that puts her back on track toward her dream of becoming a doctor. Encouraged by the overwhelming support, she expressed her gratitude and renewed determination. "I now believe that my dream can come true. I will work even harder to make the most of this opportunity," she said.
