Tamil Nadu SSLC Board Exam 2026: The Directorate of Government Examination (DGE) announced Tamil Nadu SSLC supplementary result 2026 on July 22. The Supplementary exam was till July 15 for those students who failed in main board exam.

What is Tamil Nadu SSLC Board Exam?

Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu conducts TN 10th examinations every year. Students who have passed their Class 9 from a recognised education board and have studied Class 10 from a school affiliated to DGE, TN can apply to appear for TN SSLC exam. The Board prescribes the books, syllabus, pattern for the exams. Students are advised to go through the complete syllabus and prepare for the exams accordingly. They must also solve, practice and analyse old question papers to score well.

TN SSLC Pattern 2026

As per the Tamilnadu 10th exam pattern 2026, a student needs to secure at least a minimum of 35% in the examinations in order to clear them. while the languages papers (Tamil, English, etc) have two papers each, the others including Mathematics, Social Science, among others have only paper each. TN 10th Syllabus 

The Tamil Nadu Board releases the TN 10th Syllabus on its official website. The TN SSLC syllabus mentions all the important topics a student needs to cover for the preparation of the examinations. Students must be thorough with the entire TN 10th Syllabus 2026 for better preparation of the examinations.

Mathematics Syllabus

  • Numbers and Sequences: Real numbers, Euclid’s division algorithm, Fibonacci sequences, arithmetic and geometric progressions
  • Algebra: Polynomials, quadratic equations, systems of linear equations, solving by substitution and elimination
  • Geometry: Similar triangles, Pythagoras theorem, tangents and secants, angles in circles
  • Coordinate Geometry: Distance formula, section formula, midpoint formula, equation of a straight line
  • Trigonometry: Trigonometric ratios, complementary angles, heights and distances (word problems)
  • Mensuration: Area and perimeter of 2D figures, surface area and volume of cubes, cylinders, cones, spheres, and combinations
  • Statistics: Mean, median, and mode of grouped data; graphical representation
  • Probability: Classical probability, theoretical approach, simple probability problems

Science Syllabus

  • Physics: Light (refraction, lenses, mirrors), Electricity and circuits, Electromagnetic induction, Nuclear physics (fission, fusion, radioactivity), Acoustics and sound
  • Chemistry: Periodic classification of elements, Chemical reactions and types, Acids, bases and salts, Carbon and its compounds, Water and air
  • Biology: Nutrition in plants and animals, Respiration and excretion, Control and co-ordination (nervous system, hormones), Reproduction in plants and animals, Heredity and genetics, Ecosystem and biodiversity

Social Science Syllabus

  • History: World War I and II, Global events in the 20th century, Indian independence movement, Post-independence India, Tamil Nadu history and culture
  • Geography: Physical features of India, Climate zones and monsoons, Natural resources (water bodies, forests, minerals, soils), Disaster management
  • Civics: Indian Constitution — Preamble and Fundamental Rights, Democratic governance, Local self-government (Panchayati Raj), Centre-State relations
  • Economics: Money and banking, National income and economic growth, Government budget and fiscal policy, Consumer protection and rights

  • Prose: Reading comprehension from prescribed textbook chapters

No, the TN board will not release TN SSLC Toppers list. Last year, the board did not announce the TN SSLC Toppers list. They released the name of districts who achieved the highest percentage. 

Q:   Can I join BTech, if I do not join 12th?
A: 

You can join for B.Tech course through lateral entry. After your 10th, you can join for 3 year Govt authorized Polytechnic Diploma course. Polytechnic course is a 3 year Diploma programme in fields like electronics, electrical engineering, civil, mechanical etc. Once you successfully complete Polytechnic course, you can appear for the Lateral entry entrance test. Thus you can join in the second year or 3rd semester of the regular BTech course in engineering colleges.

Q:   What is the passing criteria of TN SSLC exam?
A: 

Students need to score 35 marks out of 100 to pass in every subject in the TN 10th exam 2026. For subjects with practical, students need to score 20 out of 75 in theory and 15 out of 25 in practical examination. Marks secured in optional language are not considered for final TamilNadu 10th result declaration. Those who did not clear the TN 10th exam 2026 can appear for the TN 10th supplementary exam 2026. It will be held in June/July 2026.
