The I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC), the Technology Innovation Hub of IIT Delhi, and the SET Facility of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to unite their expertise in engineering and medicine. This partnership aims to integrate cutting-edge technology and medical innovation, fostering collaboration between the two fields under one comprehensive initiative.
The Medical Cobotics Centre (MCC), in partnership with AIIMS, will jointly conduct a range of activities designed for doctors, nurses, and students. These activities will include simulation-based training, hands-on experiences with medical simulators, specialized workshops, and participation in research projects and the development of MedTech products. IHFC will provide academic mentorship and funding support to facilitate these initiatives.
MCC is a facility in collaboration between IHFC, and iHub Anubhuti, TIH of IIIT Delhi. It is a centre of excellence to enhance Research and Development, conducting medical workshops and providing skill development training for Doctors, Surgeons, Engineers, Paramedical Staff, and other relevant personnel. It offers a robust Startup Ecosystem for nurturing startups in this domain.
During the MoU signing event, Dr. M. Srinivas, Director, AIIMS, New Delhi, said, βAn MCC-like facility empowers young doctors to explore and develop application-based technologies in the system. AIIMS will be utilizing this centre to create success stories with significant impact, which can be replicated across the nation.β
Speaking about the collaboration, Prof. Subir K. Saha, Project Director, IHFC, said, βThis initiative will provide an innovative platform for doctors and engineers to collaborate on the design, development and training of medical and healthcare technologies.β
The vision for this initiative aims to establish similar centres at other locations, including AIIMS Jhajjar. This expansion is aligned with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. These centres will bond medical and engineering fields to develop innovative products and solutions.
