IIT Bhubaneswar, RAMCO Cements To Set Up CoE to Advance Sustainable and Resilient Construction

IIT Bhubaneswar has signed an MoU with RAMCO Cements Limited to establish a CoE focused on sustainable construction and climate resiliency, aiming to drive innovation and research in environmentally responsible infrastructure.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar and RAMCO Cements Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a Center of Excellence (CoE) focused on Sustainable Construction and Climate Resiliency. Headquartered in Chennai, RAMCO Cements Limited operates integrated cement factories, grinding units, and construction chemical plants across Southern and Eastern India, including Odisha.
The MoU aims to facilitate high-quality research on sustainable construction materials and techniques with a focus on climate resiliency. It emphasizes the development of advanced, durable, and efficient concrete solutions for specialized applications. Aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), this collaboration seeks to enhance the sustainability index of the Indian construction industry.
RAMCO Sustainable Construction and Climate Resiliency Centre (RAMSCON)
The Center of Excellence, named "RAMCO Sustainable Construction and Climate Resiliency Centre (RAMSCON)," was established through an MoU signed by Prof. Prashant Sahu, Dean (Alumni Affairs & International Relations), IIT Bhubaneswar, and Balaji K. Moorthy, Executive Director (Marketing), RAMCO Cements Limited. The signing took place in the presence of Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar, along with faculty members from IIT Bhubaneswar and executives from RAMCO Cements Limited.
Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Karmalkar stated: “This collaboration with THE RAMCO CEMENTS LIMITED will enhance the ecosystem in industry-academia interaction in the field of sustainable and climate-resilient construction.”
Officials from RAMCO Cements Limited emphasized that the MoU with IIT Bhubaneswar will drive innovation in research and development, fostering advancements in sustainable construction materials. They expressed confidence that this collaboration will generate new ideas in concrete technology and sustainable construction, contributing to the industry's transformation.
