IIT Delhi: Courses, Fees, Admission 2026, Placement, Ranking

The Department of Management Studies (DMS), IIT Delhi, also known as DMS IIT Delhi offers a two-year MBA course at undergraduate courses in a full-time mode. IIT Delhi is a decent option to pursue an MBA degree. IIT Delhi ranked 4 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in the Management category IN 2024. The total course fee is a cumulative of multiple components such as tuition fee, medical fees, transport fees, etc. IIT Delhi PhD tuition fee for full-time course is INR 7,500 per semester. In addition, PhD (part-time/sponsored) programmes is INR 17,500. The hostel fee for PhD candidates is INR 13,250. Some other fee such as students distress fund scheme (each semester) of INR 400 and insurance scheme (yearly) fee of INR 500 may also be added in the fee. IIT Delhi OBC cutoff 2025 for JEE Advanced is yet to be released. However, during the last round cutoff in 2024, the JEE Advanced closing ranks for BTech admission varied between 89 and 3185 in the All India quota. In the first round, the cutoff ranks were more competitive for admission compared to the final round. Therefore, based on last year's cutoff ranks, a JEE Advanced rank of 7000 does not allow for admission at IIT Delhi for any BTech or Integrated BTech courses for students belonging to the OBC AI category.

At end of IIT Delhi Phase 1 placements 2024-25, a total of 1,200 offers were made and 1,150 students were placed. In addition, more than 50 international offers were made during IIT Delhi Phase 1 placements 2024-25. International offers came from more than 15 organisations across multiple global regions. The placement rate recorded during IIT Delhi placements 2023 and 2022 stood at 84.94% and 82%, respectively.

IIT Delhi offers a four-year full-time BTech course across multiple specialisations. During the IIT Delhi JEE Advanced cutoff 2025, the closing rank for the B.Tech in CSE course was 45 for the SC All India category students. Thus, a candidate securing a rank of up to 45 or below is only eligible for admission to the BTech in CSE course at IIT Delhi. 

Candidates applying to a MSc course in IIT Delhi must fulfil the required eligibility criteria. Thus, aspirant must hold a valid bachelor's degree in a relevant stream for at least two years (four semesters) and a minimum aggregate between 55% and 80% or 5.5 CGPA out of 10.

For MSc cognitive science/economic courses, the accepted degrees are BA/BSc/BCom/BTech/BE/BStat/BMath or equivalent. The total course fee for MSc course is ranges between INR 30K and INR 3 lakh.

IIT Delhi have a policy of not disclosing higher salary packages offered during placement drives. However, according to a press release released earlier, more than 50 students were offered salary package above INR 1 Crore per Annum during placements 2023.

IIT Delhi is one of the prestigious IITs of India offering BTech course. For getting into IIT Delhi, candidates are required to pass JEE Main, followed by JEE Advanced and JoSAA Counselling. Yes, IIT Delhi accepts GATE/CEED/UGC/CSIR/DBT/ICMR entrance exam scores for admission to different specialisations offered under the IIT Delhi PhD programme. Candidates shortlisted based on the exam score can be called for an interview round by some of the departments. The accepted exam can vary depending upon the chosen PhD specialisation.

There are various components included in the course fee structure. The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi BTech fees range between INR 8 lakh and INR 10 lakh. The fee mentioned here is taken from the official website/sanctioning body and is the total tuition fee. However, it is still subject to changes and hence, is indicative.

To apply for JEE Main, candidates must pay the application fee of INR 1,000 for Boys and INR 800 for Girls. For detailed fee structure, candidates are advised to contact the admission department of the institute.
