IIT Madras to Host ‘IInvenTiv 2025,’ Bringing Together Innovations from Researchers of Top 50 NIRF Institutes

IIT Madras is set to host IInvenTiv 2025 on February 28 - March 1, where researchers from the top 50 NIRF-ranked institutes will showcase their innovations under the auspices of the Education Ministry, Government of India.

IIT Madras to Host IInvenTiv 2025

IIT Madras is gearing up to host IInvenTiv 2025, a research and development (R&D) fair, which will serve as a platform for showcasing innovations from institutes, including IITs, NITs, IISc, IISERs, and other top 50 NIRF-ranked institutions. The event aims to foster collaboration, drive technological advancements, and highlight India’s growing research ecosystem. An expert committee has already shortlisted 185 research and innovation entries, with additional submissions expected in the coming weeks. These selected projects will offer insights into pioneering discoveries, breakthrough technologies, and transformative solutions across diverse fields.

Scheduled for February 28 and March 1, 2025, the event will be held at the IIT Madras campus and is being organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. IInvenTiv 2025 is set to bring together leading researchers, industry experts, policymakers, and innovators. As a key initiative toward realizing the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, the expo aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by showcasing technological research and innovations from India’s top institutions.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is set to inaugurate IInvenTiv 2025 at the IIT Madras campus on February 28, 2025. Ahead of the event, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, along with Dr. V. Arumugam, Member of the Local Organizing Committee and Chief Manager (Technical), Office of Industrial Consultancy and Sponsored Research (ICSR), IIT Madras, addressed a press conference at the campus outlining the event’s significance and key highlights.

Addressing the Press Conference, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, said, “Viksit Bharat 2047 shall undoubtedly be a Startup and Product Nation. IInvenTiv is a platform for Higher education institutions to showcase their translational research and startups they had incubated to the market for possible technology transfers and collaboration.”

The format for the event includes an expo with multiple stalls displaying the exhibits from the participating institutions, along with plenary talks and panel discussions on thematic areas. Elaborating on the need for industries to take part in the event, Prof. Manu Santhanam, Dean (IC&SR), IIT Madras, said, “IInvenTiv 2025 at IIT Madras is a platform where cutting-edge academic research from top institutions in the country will meet real-world industries and businesses. We invite industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and businesses to participate in this event and leverage the breakthrough technologies developed by India’s top researchers. Together, we can accelerate innovation, and drive the goal of ‘Make In India."

Launched in 2022 at IIT Delhi, IInvenTiv initially focused on showcasing R&D exclusively from IITs. The second edition, held at IIT Hyderabad in January 2024, expanded participation to include institutions from the top 50 NIRF-ranked institutes, along with IITs, NITs, IISc, and IISERs. IIT Madras is now set to host the third edition, further strengthening this platform for academic-industry collaboration and research commercialization.
