BHU BTech Eligibility & Highlights 2026
BHU BTech course of UG level is four-year long. The mode of study is full-time. Candidates wanting to apply for BHU BTech course admission need to take the CUET exam. The shortlisted students then have to take part in counselling for seat allotment. Students who meet the below criteria can apply for BTech at Banaras Hindu University:

BHU cutoff 2025 was released for multiple specialisations. Based on the last round cutoff, the closing ranks varied between 1489 and 14447 for the General AI quota. So, if you belong to the General category, you must target a JEE Advanced cutoff rank of up to 14447 or below to secure a seat at IIT BHU for BTech admission. For top branches like CSE and Mathematics and Computing, the maximum required cutoff ranks for admission were 1489 and 1924 in the last round.
Note: Cutoff ranks vary for different rounds and specialisations and categories.
BHU placements are good. The highest and average packages secured by MBA students in 2025 were INR 19.8 LPA and INR 10.1 LPA, respectively. Median salary stood at INR 9.2 LPA. The university has not yet released the placement data 2026 for other courses. During the placement drive 2025, a total of 177 placement drives were held, and more than 950 students were placed.
BHU has a dediacted placement cell which invites prominent companies for the placement drives. During the Banaras Hindu University 2025 placement drive, more than 65 companies participated. BHU BTech Admission Dates 2026
Since last year, the university has been selecting candidates to the UG course based on merit in CUET-UG. Thus, the students should stay updated with the CUET-UG dates for BHU. BHU admission process for UG courses has officially closed .Only the candidates who have appeared for CUET UG were eligible to register for this counselling process.
Yes, foreign national students can get admission in the UG and PG courses in BHU. 15% of supernumerary seats in each programme are reserved for foreign nationals. Candidates under the Foreign Students category must register through the Foreign Students' Registry only. Admissions under the foreign students' category will be merit-based. They do not have to appera in CUET exam.
Banaras Hindu University course admissions is entrance-based for most of the programmes. Thus, one-year dropper student can apply for the desired course, however, qualifying the respective entrance is the a must. Apart from this, aspirant should meet the course-specific minimum eligibility requirements as well.
Moreover, the student can be asked to submit an application regarding the reason for drop out. Sometimes even this is not required.
BHU offers entrance-based admissions to all its UG and PG courses. To get admission to any UG and PG courses, it is compulsory to appear for the CUET-UG/ CUET-PG entrance exams. Further, the university also accepts other entrance exam such as NEET, GATE, CAT, etc. for admission to specific courses. 1: BHU BTech Application Process
The applications are accepted in online mode by the university. Students should fill all the details carefully. The application fee of INR 650 (General/ OBC Category)/ INR 550 (SC/ST Category) also has to be paid. The application process consists of the following steps:
- Go to the website of CUET-UG and click on the 'New Registration' tab.
- Fill the application form.
- Upload the scanned photograph and signature.
- Select courses and Universities as per your preference and pay the application fee.
2: Selection Process
Candidates are shortlisted by the university based on CUET scores. Shortlisted students have to go through a counselling round for seat allotment.
3: Admission Confirmation
The students who get selected need to submit important documents and pay the course fee. Fee payment is necessary for seat confirmation. BHU BTech tuition fee ranges from INR 3.2L to INR 8L. This fee is as per the official website/ sanctioning body. It is subject to changes and, hence, is indicative.

Yes, Banaras Hindu University accept CUET score for multiple UG courses, including BA (Hons), BCom (Hons) BSc (Hons), etc. The university is also offering admission to its PG courses based on merit in CUET-PG. The admission is done in order of merit based on the normalised score of the CUET (PG) and reservation policy as per the provisions laid down in the BHU PET Information Brochure.

As per the CUET cut-off 2025, the closing CUET UG score for admission to most courses ranged from 500 to 600 for the General AI category. Cut-off scores for reserved categories like OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and EWS are usually 15-20% lower than the General AI category.
BHU cutoff 2026 was released for the 4th round for different All India quota categories for the UG-level courses. The round 4 cutoff ranged from 53 to 145 for the General AI category. Banaras Hindu University offers a four-year full-time BTech course at the undergraduate level. The required score would depend on the category, course and round. The BHU cutoff 2026 was released for the 4th round for admission to several PG-level courses. The cutoff was out for different AI quota categories.
For the General AI category, the round 4 cutoff ranged from 6 to 260. Hence, students who have a score of at least 6 could gain admission at BHU in the third round.

Whether you can get BHU for the BAMS course based on the AYUSH results would depend entirely on the category you belong to. For the General and OBC AI categories, the last round cutoff was 30748 and 32844, respectively. Hence, admissions with a rank of 70K are not possible for these categories.
On the other hand, for the SC AI category, the last round cutoff was 148564. There admissions could be possible with a rank of 70K.
The minimum CUET scores required for BHU admission would differ based on category, course and rounds. For the General AI category, the minimum score accepted in the first round was 73.

BHU BTech Curriculum
BTech is a four-year course, which is spread across eight semesters. In the first year of the course, students are taught basic Science subjects, such as Physics, Mathematics, etc. From the second year, the subjects are more specialisation-specific.
