Due to the CCE pattern, tests are divided into two classifications extensively:
- Periodic Tests: Four tests in each subject in June, July, October, and November
- Term Tests: Two tests in each subject in September and February
In each subject, 20% of full marks are kept for internal assessments, and 80% of the total marks are held for the final evaluation

The Manipur Board follow a standard exam pattern in class 10. In Manipur HSLC exams, both objective and subjective type questions are asked. Each paper is of 100 marks (including internal assesment exam in a few paper). The students are given 3 hours in each paper to write the exam. The exams are held in offline mode (pen and paper).
To appear for the Manipur HSLC exam, a student must be passed in Manipur class 9 exams from a recognised school. The student must have the minimum required percentage in class attendence. Apart from this, the students must be enrolled in class 10 exams in a school recognised by BSEM. Schools are responsible to check eligibility of student.
