Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is a national level entrance exam conducted by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay for admission to Bachelor of Design (BDes) programs across various IITs and participating institutes. UCEED checks a candidate’s design aptitude, including visual perception ability, creativity, logical reasoning, drawing skills and communication skills.

UCEED 2025 topper list was released on UCEED website. Once rank list is released, names and scores of top performing candidates will be available on UCEED website.

Q:   What is UCEED important dates?
A: 

The important dates of UCEED 2027 cover events like the commencement and deadline to fill out the UCEED application, admit card release and exam date, result date, and seat allotment schedule. This means the important dates will cover all the events starting from the release of admission notification to the completion of the admission process. The candidate can keep track of upcoming events by consulting the important dates.

The important dates for UCEED 2027 have been released by IIT Bombay. IIT Bombay has the authority to change a pre-announced date; so candidates need to stay updated by visiting this space.

Q:   When will the new website be launched for UCEED 2027 exam?
A: 

IIT Bombay will launch the new website for the UCEED 2027 exam on October 1, 2026 - uceed.iitb.ac.in.

New website carries information like important dates, an information brochure, and the candidate portal. There is also a download section, from where the candidate will be able to download useful resources like previous years question papers and answer keys.

Q:   Will there be any supplementary seat allotment rounds for UCEED 2026?
A: 

IIT Bombay may conduct any complementary seat allotment round for UCEED counseling only if there are vacant seats left after the five regular seat allotment rounds. Note that, IIT Bombay will conduct FIVE seat allotment rounds. The seat allotment will be based on the merit rank of the candidate in UCEED 2026 and campus selected at the time of counseling registration. Candidates who qualify in UCEED 2026 exam can participate in counseling.

The counseling for UCEED 2026 will be held as a Joint Seat Allotment process. The participating institutes of UCEED 2026 can participate in counseling.

Q:   What are the documents required to participate in UCEED counseling 2026?
A: 

The candidate needs the following documents to participate in UCEED 2026 counseling.

  • Signed copy of the first page of the completed application form

  • UCEED 2026 scorecard

  • Qualifying exam (Class 12 or equivalent) mark sheet

  • Photo

  • Signature

  • OBC-NCL/ SC/ ST/ PwD certificate (if applicable)

  • OCI/ PIO card (if applicable)

Q:   What is the validity of the UCEED 2026 scorecard?
A: 

UCEED 2026 scorecard will be valid for a period of one year from the date of its release. The scorecard was made available for download on March 10, 2026. 

Scorecard contains Part A marks for all candidates who appeared in the UCEED 2026 entrance exam. However, Part B, total marks, and merit ranks are released only for candidates who qualify Part A. 

Q:   Will there be any biometric verification at UCEED 2026 exam centre?
A: 

Yes, there will be biometric verification at the UCEED 2026 exam centre. The biometric information (thumb impression and photograph) will be collected from the candidate before the commencement of the exam. On exam day, the candidate needs to bring with them a valid photo id proof and the admit card. Note that the photo id proof must be in the original; photocopies will not be accepted. Note that the candidate needs to report at the UCEED 2026 exam centre at least 2 hours before the commencement of the exam.

Q:   What will be the mode of UCEED counseling?
A: 

The counseling for UCEED 2026 will be conducted online as a Joint Seat Allocation process. The counseling will be conducted in a centralized manner.

Q:   When will UCEED seat allotment release for Round I?
A: 

IIT Bombay will release UCEED seat allotment for Round I in the last week of April 2027.

The seat allotment will be released online at the UCEED - IIT Bombay admission portal UCEED.

Next Steps After UCEED 2025 Result Declaration

AsUCEED 2025 results are declared, qualified candidates must take these following steps for UCEED 2025 admissions and counseling.

  1. Download Scorecard UCEED 2025 scorecard will be available for download from March 10, 2025, to June 11, 2025 on website. Hard copies of UCEED Score Card will not be available. 
  2. Check Rank List All shortlisted candidates will get a common merit rank (All India Rank) and will be considered as selected candidates in UCEED 2025. Getting a rank in UCEED 2025 does NOT guarantee admission to B. Des programme. 
  3. Submit BDes Application Candidates who qualify for UCEED 2025 can apply for BDes programme from March 14 to March 31, 2025. 
  4. Prepare Required Documents Have digital copies of necessary documents ready, including UCEED 2025 Scorecard, Class XII (or equivalent) Mark Sheet, Recent passport-sized photograph, Signature, EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST Certificate (if applicable), PwD Certificate (if applicable), OCI/PIO Card (if applicable)
  5. Participate in Seat Allotment Seat allotment will take place in five rounds.
  6. Seat Acceptance Fee Once a seat is allotted, candidates must pay seat acceptance fee ₹60,000 for GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL candidates and ₹15,000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates
  7. Final Admission After seat allotment rounds, candidates will receive their final admission offer from institute they applied to.

Q:   Can I participate in counseling if I have not been assigned a merit rank in UCEED?
A: 

No, you cannot participate if you have not been given a merit rank in the UCEED.

The counseling process for UCEED will be conducted as a Joint Seat Allotment process. To participate in the counseling, the candidate must have qualified for the UCEED and been assigned a merit rank in the UCEED exam. If the candidate doesn't have a merit rank, he or she is not eligible to participate the counseling-cum-seat allotment process.

Q:   When will the UCEED 2027 exam be conducted?
A: 

IIT Bombay will conduct the UCEED 2027 exam on January 17, 2027 from 9 AM- 12 PM. UCEED Test was conducted at the centres. The reporting time was 7 AM.

Q:   Will there be a baggage counter at UCEED exam centre?
A: 

IIT Bombay usually doesn't make any arrangements like baggage counters. So, it is a good idea for candidates not be bring any unnecessary stuff with them to the exam centre. Also, if the candidate has any doubts, he or she must go through the exam-day guidelines published by exam officials to check if any special arrangements are being made. Since it is unlikely that there will be a baggage counter, the candidate can not afford to bring valuable items and leave it unattended outside the exam hall. It is because if any valuable item is lost, IIT Bombay will not take any responsibility.

Q:   When will UCEED seat allotment release for Round I?
A: 

The admission cut-off for UCEED 2026 will be released in last week of April, 2026. 

The seat allotment will be released online at the UCEED 2026- IIT Bombay admission portal uceed.iitb.ac.in.

To download the seat allotment-cum-cutoff, you need to click on the seat allotment download button given under B. Des 1st Round of Seat Allotment heading. Note that no log-in is required to download the seat allotment results pdf.

Candidates who are allotted seats have to accept the seat and pay the fees. Note that candidates were also given the option to withdraw their seats.

UCEED 2025 Rank List

All shortlisted candidates will get a rank. All shortlisted candidates are considered qualified candidates in UCEED 2025. The UCEED 2025 rank list will be prepared based on the combined marks obtained in Part A and Part B of the examination. In case of a tie, the following tie break policy will be applied.

  1. Higher marks in Part B will be given preference.
  2. If tie is still there, higher marks in Section 2 of Part A will be considered.
  3. If tie still exists, higher marks in Section 1 of Part A will determine the rank.
  4. If there’s still a tie, candidates will be assigned the same rank.

All shortlisted candidates will be assigned a Common Merit Rank (CMR).

UCEED is one of the accepting exams for admission in BDes programme of MIT-WPU, Pune. However, it is not mandatory. Aspirants with scores in NATA, NIFT Entrance Exam or NID or MIT-WPU CET can also get admission in BDes provided they also pass the selection rounds.

Yes, UCEED Exam score is accepted for NMIMS DAT Admission. Such candidates have to submit their portfolios and appear for a Personal interview.

Yes, 30 could be considered a good enough rank for admission to the BDes course at IIT Hyderabad.

Both institutions offer the BDes course but with completely different admission processes. IIT Indore accepts admission based on the UCEED entrance exam, while BITS Pilani considers the NID Entrance exam/ BITSAT exam result.
