Applicants who will appear for the exam must dress decently to ensure the frisking process is conducted smoothly. IIT Bombay has released guidelines for UCEED exam day. Check the UCEED dress code and list of items to be carried and not to be carried at the IIT UCEED exam centre.
UCEED Dress Code
IIT Bombay conducted the UCEED Entrance exam on January 17, 2027. The exam will begin at 9 AM and will end at 12 PM. The reporting time to UCEED Centre is 7 AM. It is mandatory to bring the UCEED Hall ticket and a Photo ID proof to write the exam. All the details about the exam day are also mentioned in the UCEED Brochure.

Has UCEED prescribed any Dress Code for the Exam?
No, IIT Bombay has not prescribed any dress code for the UCEED 2027 Exam day. But this should not be misunderstood as candidates can wear anything they want. For the UCEED exam, candidates must dress decently and appropriately. They should keep in mind traditional and community norms. Candidates are not expected to dress in a way that may disturb the exam environment.
UCEED Dress Code for Females
- Wear something comfortable. It will be best if you go for formal clothes.
- Females should avoid wearing headgear or a scarf.
- Don't wear rubber bands or clips in your hair. You can use a normal hair tie.
- Avoid wearing any jewellery or accessories.
- Candidates should not have any henna or tattoos, as there will be a biometric impression at the centre.
- Candidates can wear clothes as per the weather.
- Candidates can opt for slippers or sandals with low heels for footwear.
UCEED Dress Code for Males
Some of the suggestions for UCEED Dress code for Males.
- Both male and female candidates can wear formal wear, like a shirt, trousers, and salwar kameez.
- Avoid wearing a dress with lots of pockets, etc. This will raise suspicion, and you may be subject to a lot of frisking.
- Don’t wear items like scarves, stoles or other accessories that cover your head, unless it is for religious purposes.
- Closed-toe shoes can be an option. However, if you instead wear shoes with heavy heels or thick soles, you may face extra frisking.
- Do not wear metallic items at the exam, eg, rings, bracelets, etc.
- Make sure that whatever you are wearing does not have anything obscene, racial, or controversial.

Stationery Items to carry to the UCEED Centre
Candidates must bring their own pencils in a transparent packet or pouch. Pencil of black shades are allowed. Sketch pens, colour pencils, poster colors and other colouring materials are NOT permitted inside the examination hall. Candidates may bring a writing board of A4 size. Exchanging and borrowing of these materials is NOT permitted inside the UCEED examination centre.

Items Not Allowed: Electronic Devices
- Candidates should not carry any electronic devices (mobile phones, smart phones, watches of any type, calculators, tablets and the like), abacus, slide rule, log books, study material of any type, geometry box, and so on to the examination hall.
List of Banned Items at UCEED 2027 Exam Centre
- Textual items like bits of paper, plastic pouch, pencil/geometry box, pen, calculator, writing pad, scale, eraser, pen drive, log table, electronic pen/scanner, etc.
- Communication devices like Bluetooth, mobile phones, microphones, earphones, health bands, pagers, etc.
- Wallets, goggles, belts, handbags, caps, etc.
- Wristwatch/watch, camera, bracelet, etc.
- Any metallic items or ornaments
- Water bottles or any open or packed food items
- Abacus, slide, ruler, log books, study material of any type, geometry box, and so on to the examination hall.
Note: Candidates must know that authorities will provide no arrangement for keeping personal items or articles.

As per the information given in the UCEED 2027 information brochure, 10% of seats in every course will be reserved for Gen-EWS category.
Note that to apply under this category, you must meet the conditions given in the OM No. 20013/01/2018-BC-II, issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. When applying for UCEED 2027, you can select your category.

The candidate is not allowed to select their own scribes for UCEED exam. Instead, the exam conducting body will arrange for a panel of scribes. The panel will be prepared in coordination with the test centre administrator (TCA) of the examination centre.

Yes, there will be biometric verification at the UCEED 2027 exam centre. The biometric information (thumb impression and photograph) will be collected from the candidate before the commencement of the exam. On exam day, the candidate needs to bring with them a valid photo id proof and the admit card. Note that the photo id proof must be in the original; photocopies will not be accepted.
The important dates of UCEED 2027 cover events like the commencement and deadline to fill out the UCEED application, admit card release and exam date, result date, and seat allotment schedule. UCEED 2027 scorecard will be valid for a period of one year from the date of its release. The scorecard was made available for download on March 10, 2027.
IIT Bombay usually doesn't make any arrangements like baggage counters. So, it is a good idea for candidates not be bring any unnecessary stuff with them to the exam centre. Also, if the candidate has any doubts, he or she must go through the exam-day guidelines published by exam officials to check if any special arrangements are being made. Since it is unlikely that there will be a baggage counter, the candidate can not afford to bring valuable items and leave it unattended outside the exam hall. It is because if any valuable item is lost, IIT Bombay will not take any responsibility.
On the day of the UCEED exam, our correspondents will visit the UCEED exam centre. They will bring you minute-by-minute updates on the exam, like when the exam has commenced, the registration protocols followed by exam officials, and whether there are any technical or other issues during the exam. And once the exam is over, the correspondents will speak to the exam takers and bring you live reactions. The reactions will cover aspects like the types of questions asked, difficulty level, both sectional and overall, and expected cut-off. The candidate, by consulting the exam analysis, will be able to access their performance and chances of getting admission to the B.Des program.
Commonly asked questions
IIT Bombay may conduct any complementary seat allotment round for UCEED counseling only if there are vacant seats left after the five regular seat allotment rounds. Note that, IIT Bombay will conduct FIVE seat allotment rounds. The seat allotment will be based on the merit rank of the candidate in UCEED 2027 and campus selected at the time of counseling registration. Candidates who qualify in UCEED 2027 exam can participate in counseling.
The counseling for UCEED 2027 is held as a Joint Seat Allotment process by IIT Bombay. The Joint Admission Process has five seat allotment rounds.
Candidates who are allotted seats have to pay the seat acceptance fees to confirm their seats. There is no option to withdraw seats in the last round. All participating institutes of UCEED are participating in the counseling process.
UCEED exam will be conducted for a duration of 3 hours from 9 am - 12 noon. On the day of exam, the candidate needs to report at the exam centre at least 2 hours before exam commences. Candidate will have to report at 7 am. No candidate will be allowed entry inside the exam hall once the exam commences. So, the candidate must be punctual about reaching the UCEED exam venue.
IIT Bombay conducted the UCEED 2027 exam on January 17, 2027 (9 am – 12 noon). The exam had two mandatory parts: the computer-based Part A and the offline Part B. The exam was conducted at the UCEED test centres.

The most difficult part can vary from student to student. In UCEED 2026, MSQs and some NAT questions were reported to be more challenging, while Part B was also time-consuming.

Yes, but drawing practice is important because Part B includes drawing questions. Candidates don't need professional-level drawing skills, but they should be able to communicate ideas clearly through sketches.
