UCEED Admission Process involves the UCEED Entrance Exam, the release of Draft and Final Answer Key, the declaration of result and counselling. Read on to know what the admission process is and how to get admission in IITs for the B.Des programmes.
UCEED Entrance exam will be conducted by IIT Bombay on January 17, 2027. The exam timing will be 9 AM to 12 PM. The exam will be conducted offline at the UCEED Test Centres. UCEED Hall ticket and a photo ID have to be taken to write the IIT UCEED Entrance Test. The reporting time will be 7 AM. UCEED 2027 Exam will of 3 hours.
UCEED Exam will have two parts: Part A and Part B. Part A will have Numerical Answer Type (NAT), Multiple Select Question (MSQ) and Multiple Choice Question (MCQ). Part B will include Sketching and Design Aptitude.

UCEED 2027 Registration form was available online at uceedapp.iitb.ac.in/UCEED/home.jsp. Candidates who meet the prescribed UCEED 2027 eligibility criteria could apply before the last date.

Note that the Part B answer booklet will be evaluated only if the candidate qualifies Part A. Further, only such candidates who have qualified Part A will be shortlisted and allocated a merit rank.
This means if the candidates fail to qualify Part A of UCEED 2027, they will not be issued any merit ranks. The scorecards of such candidates will merely include Part A scores. In contrast, the screcards of shortlisted will include a merit rank, total and sectional scores. Further, all shortlisted candidates will be eligible to participate in UCEED 2027 and seat allotment.
Eligibility criteria to participate in UCEED counselling are given below.
Candidate must be born on or after October 1, 2002.
Candidate must have qualifed in UCEED 2027 exam.
Candidate must have passed all five subjects in 10+ 2 or an equivalent exam in 2026 or 2027. Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam for the first time in 2025 or earlier are NOT eligible.
The counseling process for UCEED will be conducted by IIT Bombay as a Joint Seat Allocation process.
- To participate in UCEED counseling, the candidate must have qualified in the UCEED entrance exam and been allocated a merit rank.
- This means that if the candidate has failed to qualify Part A exam, he or she will not be allocated a merit rank and, therefore, is not eligible to take part in the counseling process.
To be eligible to apply for B.Des programme through UCEED, candidates should have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects in 10+2.
How to fill UCEED 2027 Application Form?
The step-wise process to complete the UCEED application form is given below.
- Register online - The candidate has to register for the exam by entering details like name, email ID, and mobile number
- Fill in the form - Next, fill in personal, academic, and personal details.
- Select test center - The candidate must select THREE test centers in the order of priority. The name and address of the exam center allocated to the candidate will be mentioned in the UCEED admit card 2027.
- Upload documents - In the penultimate step, upload documents as per the format.
- Pay the application fee - Finally, pay the application fee to complete the process.

Documents required for UCEED Registration 2027
The candidate will need the following documents to register for UCEED
- A recent color photograph of full frontal (face) view, with the head centred in the frame covering 70–80% of the photograph and taken within the last six months. The photograph should be such that it allows unambiguous identification of the candidate (only JPEG image formats with file extension .jpg will be accepted).
- Scanned copy of candidate’s full signature on white paper (only JPEG image formats with file extension .jpg will be accepted).
- For those candidates who will be appearing in 2027 for the exam, a certificate from the school/college principal in the given format (Appendix 1) should be uploaded (only PDF formats with file extension .pdf will be accepted). (Note: Appendixes are given in the UCEED 2027 Brochure)
- If the name is not the same as in the Class XII certificate, a gazette notification showing the change of name is required (only PDF formats with file extension .pdf will be accepted).

Candidates seeking admission under the EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST or PwD category
- OBC-NCL (Appendix 2), Caste (for SC), Tribe (for ST) (Appendix 3), EWS (Appendix 4) or PwD certificate (Unique Disability Identification (UDID) certificate or copy of UDID card or Forms in Appendices 5 – 7) issued by a competent authority (only PDF formats with file extension .pdf will be accepted).
- Dyslexic candidates need to submit FORM-DYSLEXIC 1 and 2 (Appendices 8 and 9) instead of a PwD certificate. The certificate must mention ‘SEVERE’ under Dyslexia category to enable the candidate to get the benefit of PwD category.

UCEED Eligibility Criteria 2027
The detailed eligibility criteria for the UCEED 2027 exam are given below.
- Age limit - The candidate must be born on or after October 1, 2001, if belonging to the Open, EWS, or OBC-NCL category and born on or after October 1, 1995, if belonging to the SC, ST, or PwD category.
- Number of attempts - A candidate can attempt UCEED a maximum of two times, and that too in consecutive years. UCEED score is valid for one year and only for admissions in the same academic year.
- Qualifying examination - A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2027 OR 2025 to be eligible for attempting UCEED 2027. Students from ALL STREAMS (Science, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities) are eligible. Those who appeared for the first time in their qualifying examination (Class XII) in 2023 or earlier are NOT eligible to appear in UCEED 2027.
UCEED 2027 Exam Cities
IIT Bombay is expected to conduct the UCEED 2027 exam in 27 cities across India. The candidate can select their choice of exam city when filling out the form. It will be mandatory to select THREE cities in order of priority. The list of UCEED 2027 exam center is given in the table below.

Candidates from any academic stream are eligible to apply for UCEED exam. However, for admission to IIT Guwahati, it is mandatory for candidates to have passed Class 12 from the Science stream. The candidate needs to carefully go through the eligibility criteria before they apply. It is because the candidate will not be considered for admission to the B. Des programme even if they get a rank in UCEED if they don't meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. Yes, UCEED Cutoff will be round specific. It will be released separately for each round of seat allotment. Candidates who meet cut-off criteria in their categories will be considered for admission to the B. Des programme.
Cut-off for each round will be different for various categories like OPEN, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, etc.
The admission cut-off for Round I of UCEED 2026 was released on April 21, 2026.
This will be followed by the 2nd allotment on May 19, 2026. UCEED 3rd round of allotment will be declared on June 10, 2026.
If you are appearing in the qualifying examination (Class XII or equivalent) in 2027 you must ensure the following:
- (a) all parts of their final examination are completed by the date of application for admission, and
- (b) submit proof of having passed the qualifying examination with required eligibility by September 30, 2027 to the admitting institute.
No, you cannot apply for B.Des programme at IIT Roorkee even if you have cleared the UCEED Entrance Exam because Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are compulsory subjects in 10+2. But you can apply for B.Des programme at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore.

UCEED Counselling 2027
IIT Bombay will conduct the UCEED counseling 2027. A centralised counselling, called the Joint Admission Process, will be held. Candidates who have qualified in the UCEED 2027 exam can participate. The allotment of seats will be done in five rounds. Seat allotment will be based on merit rank and the college option selected by the candidate during counseling registration.
Application to B.Des Programmes at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur (Participating Institutes) will begin tentatively from March 14, 2027 (Saturday), 10:00 Hrs. The application portal will be closed on April 10, 2027 (Friday), 17:30 Hrs.
