BITS Pilani Fees 2026: Check B.E. Tuition Fee and Total 4-Year Cost

BITS Pilani fees for B.E. programmes are among the major factors students consider before taking admission through BITSAT. For students admitted in the 2026-27 academic year, the institute has prescribed a semester tuition fee of Rs 2,91,500. In addition to tuition fees, students have to pay admission fees, hostel charges, student welfare-related fees, mess and electricity advances and other applicable charges.

The total cost of pursuing a four-year B.E. at BITS Pilani is therefore higher than the tuition fee alone. Also, BITS Pilani increases the semester tuition fee every year. For the 2026-27 batch, the semester tuition fee is scheduled to increase from Rs 2,91,500 in the first year to Rs 3,06,000 in 2027-28, Rs 3,21,500 in 2028-29 and Rs 3,37,500 in 2029-30.

BITS Pilani Hostel Fees

Hostel accommodation is another significant component of the overall cost. For 2026-27, the hostel fee is Rs 36,000 per semester, or Rs 72,000 for two semesters in an academic year. The same hostel fee is listed for the Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses for 2026-27.

For an initial four-year estimate at the current rate, hostel charges would amount to around Rs 2.88 lakh. However, BITS Pilani has stated that hostel fees will also be revised upwards every year. Therefore, the actual hostel expenditure for a student completing the entire four-year programme is likely to be higher. 

BITS Pilani Mess and Other Charges

Students also have to pay a mess and electricity advance of Rs 10,000 per semester. This is an advance and is adjusted against the actual mess and electricity bills.

An other advance of Rs 12,000 per semester is also listed in the fee structure. These amounts should not simply be treated as additional tuition costs because they are advances that are adjusted against applicable expenses.

The institute also charges an annual Students’ Union fee of Rs 450 and Students’ Aid Fund contribution of Rs 225. A one-time Institute Caution Deposit of Rs 3,000 is also payable.

What is the Total Cost of a B.E. at BITS Pilani?

For a student admitted in 2026-27, the four-year tuition cost is approximately Rs 25.13 lakh, based on the year-wise tuition rates announced by BITS Pilani.

Adding the currently listed hostel charges of approximately Rs 2.88 lakh, the cost reaches around Rs 28.01 lakh before considering other fees and expenses.

Is Summer Term Fee Included in BITS Pilani Fees?

No. The summer term is not automatically part of every student’s academic calendar. For 2026-27, the summer term fee is Rs 1,02,000. BITS Pilani states that the summer-term tuition fee is 35% of the semester tuition fee for the corresponding academic year. Students pay it only if they are required to register for the summer term.

This means students who require a summer term, including in situations involving additional academic requirements or Practice School arrangements, may have to pay extra.

Does BITS Pilani Increase Fees Every Year?

Yes. BITS Pilani has clearly stated that the semester tuition, summer-term and hostel fees are revised upwards every year. For the 2026-27 batch, the semester tuition fee rises from Rs 2.915 lakh in 2026-27 to Rs 3.375 lakh by 2029-30.

Hence, candidates should consider the four-year projected cost rather than looking only at the first-year BITS Pilani fees when comparing BITS Pilani with other engineering colleges.
