JoSAA Login 2026: Candidates can access the JoSAA candidate portal after completing the JoSAA counselling registration process. JoSAA 2026 registration and choice filling will open on Juen 2. To initiate registration for JoSAA 2026, candidates are required to input their JEE Main 2026 application number, date of birth, mother's name, and their own name. Thereafter, candidates have to verify the OTP sent to their JEE Main 2026 registered mobile number. Candidates with JEE Main ranks will be eligible for admission to the NITs, IIITs and GFTIs via the JoSAA counselling. Whereas IIT admission via the JoSAA counselling will be based on JEE Advanced 2026 ranks.

In the next step, candidates have to create a new password for the JoSAA portal.

How to Create JoSAA Login 2026?

Creating the JoSAA login is easy and can be completed using the following easy steps:

Candidates should initiate the process by selecting the “New Candidate Registration” link. They need to provide their JEE Main 2026 credentials for authentication.
Next, enter the JEE Main 2026 application number, date of birth, maternal name, and the candidate’s name accurately.
After submitting the information, verify the One-Time Password (OTP) dispatched to the email ID and phone number associated with the JEE Main 2026 registration.
In the subsequent step, establish a new password for the JoSAA portal and proceed to log in.

Note that there is no registration fee for JoSAA 2026.

Logging into the JoSAA 2026 Candidate Portal

After the registration is over, candidates are then redirected to the candidate portal for JoSAA counselling. To enter the JoSAA candidate login, candidates have to follow the steps below:

In the login window, enter the JEE Main 2026 application number and password.
After that, verify the OTP that is sent to the registered mobile number.
Under the login, check the displayed information. Make sure all the information is correct, like the JEE Main/Advanced ranks, gender, nationality, the location of your class 12 examination, and the state of eligibility

If all the details are correct, proceed to registration. If the details are incorrect, then use the edit option to make changes.

After the JoSAA registration is successful, candidates can then proceed to JoSAA 2026 choice filling process, where they enter their choice for colleges and courses in order of preference for admission.

JoSAA 2026 Login for Choice Filling & Locking

JoSAA choice filling means filling of preferences for courses and colleges (preferences for IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs) that the candidate wants to be considered for admission. To select the courses and colleges, candidates have to make sure that they use the previous year cutoff trends and get an estimate of which courses and colleges have the highest chances of getting into, as per their JEE Main/JEE Advanced rank.

Candidates are displayed a wide range of courses and college options within the JoSAA portal. Candidates have to select the course and college combination and arrange them in order of preference. While allocating the seat, the first preference will be considered, and if the rank of the candidate allows, then the first preference will be allotted, or else the second preference will be considered. In this way, the seat allocation is done. Therefore, it is critical to fill the choices wisely, as JoSAA choice filling opens only once with the registration process.

Q: Can I get my money back as I didn't get any good college through JoSAA counselling?

If you have already acceptd seat via the JoSAA counselling but want to withdraw the admission then you can do so. The withdraw option is made available starting from the 2nd round and up to the second last round of seat allocation.

If a candidate withdraws a seat, the candidate’s allotted seat will be cancelled and offered to another candidate in a subsequent round of counselling. The candidate withdrawing shall be excluded from the JoSAA process, which means the candidate shall not be considered for subsequent rounds of seat allocation (if any).

Seat acceptance fee will be refunded to these candidates after deducting the withdrawal processing charges of INR 7000. Thus the candidate will forfeit the eligibility for admissions to any of the institutes through JoSAA.

Q: What is JoSAA counselling cutoff?

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) publishes cutoffs as opening and closing ranks after each round of seat allotment.

The opening rank is the raank at which admisison to a particuloar course and college starts in a JoSAA round. The closing rank indicates the last rank at which the admission in a JoSAA round closed for a college and course.

The JoSAA opening and closing rank will vary in all rounds based on based on various categories of the candidates.

Q: I want to get admission to IIIT Delhi through JEE Main. Do I go through with JoSAA counselling or do I have to apply for JAC Delhi?

Admission to IIIT D B.Tech courses is via the JAC Delhi counselling only. Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-Delhi) do not offer admission via JoSAA counselling. Therefore candidates have to apply for JAC Delhi counselling for B.Tech admission to IIIT D. Joint Admission Counseling Delhi conducts JAC Delhi counselling for admission to BE/B.Tech and B.Arch degree programmes offered by 5 technical universities/institutes of the Government of NCT, Delhi. These institutes/universities include Delhi Technological University (DTU), Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW), Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-D), Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU), and Netaji Subhas University of Technology (NSUT). .

JoSAA Login 2026 for Seat Allotment Result

Candidates are allotted seats in each round of JoSAA according to the JoSAA 2026 choice filling they have done and their JEE Main/JEE Advanced AIR. A candidate who is allotted a seat must download the “Initial Seat Allotment Intimation Slip”, which has information regarding the Seat Allotment and steps to be followed for seat confirmation by the candidate. Candidates must accept the allocated seat and choose one of the following options like ‘Freeze’, ‘Slide’, or ‘Float', for their academic program in any subsequent rounds of JoSAA seat allotment 2026.

No, choosing the option “Freeze” in JoSAA counselling means that the candidate accepts the offered seat and is satisfied with the allotted course and college.

Q: I have 350 marks in UP board class 12th. Can I participate in JoSAA counselling?

No, you cannot appear for JoSAA counselling with 350 marks in Class 12 UP board. The minimum percentage required to appear for JoSAA Counseling is 75% in class 12 with Physics, chemistry and mathematics as compulsory subjects. The candidates must have completed their class 12 from a recognised board. A total of 350 marks out of 500 constitutes 70% of marks, which does not meet the minimum percentage required to appear for JoSAA counselling.

Q: Is JoSAA counselling free? If not, how much does a candidate have to pay for it?

The filling-in of choices on the online portal is free of cost. The candidate must pay the seat acceptance fee before continuing with the JoSAA process till the end to avail the seat in an IIT or NIT. The documents uploaded by the candidate will not be verified unless the candidate pays the seat acceptance fee. General/Open category candidates are required to pay a fee of INR 35,000, whereas SC, Gen-PwD, ST, OBC-NCL-PwD, ST-PwD, and SC-PwD have to pay INR 17,500. The fees will be included in the semester fees once students confirm their admission.

JoSAA Login 2026 for Document Verification

In the JoSAA counselling 2026, registered candidates have to upload various documents to get verified for the JoSAA counselling process. The JoSAA document verification is held online as per the schedule, and candidates will be required to upload documents under their JoSAA 2026 login at josaa.nic.in. Candidates have to upload various certificates in the format prescribed by the authorities.

It is the responsibility of the candidate to keep the valid certificate or documents for JOSAA 2026 ready and upload the same at the time of application/registration.
