GATE 2017 Eligibility and Exam Centers

GATE 2017 eligibility criteria was declared recently along with GATE exam dates.  The exam will be held on February 4, 5, 11 and 12, in 2017. However, the final schedule will be displayed on the official website of the institute and GATE 2017 by June 25. IIT Roorkee will be the organizing institute of the exam.

GATE 2017 Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (4 years after 10+2 or 3 years after diploma in Engineering /Technology) and those who are in the final year of such programmes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (Five year course) and those who are in the final year of such programmes.
  • Bachelor’s degree of four year programme in Science (B.Sc) and those who are in the final year of such programmes.
  • Master’s degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent  and those who are in the final year of such programmes.
  • Four year integrated Master’s degree(Post B.Sc) in Engineering/Technology and those in the second or higher year of such programmes.
  • Five year integrated Master’s degree or dual degree in Engineering/Technology  and those in the fourth or higher year of such programmes.
  • Five year integrated M.Sc or Five year integrated B.Sc/M.Sc degree and those in the final year of such programmes.
  • Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognised by UPSC/AICTE as equivalent to B.E/B.Tech. Those who have completed section of A of AIME or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.  
  • GATE candidates from Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and UAE should have completed Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Master’s degree in Science in a relevant subject or are in the final year of the program.

GATE is one of the accepting exams for admission in M.Tech at MIT School of Engineering and Sciences. It is mandatory for admission in M.Tech Fire Engineering. However, aspirants can also apply with PERA CET scores for admission in other M.Tech specialisations.
