To help students predict the best college and branch for them on the basis of their JEE Main  rank/score, Shiksha has launched JEE Main college predictor tool . To use this tool, you will have to fill in details such as your rank/predicted rank, rank type, category and counselling round.

After filling-in these details, you will be provided with a search result wherein you can view a list of colleges with their name and location. Apart from this, you can also find out the branches in which you will be offered at that rank mentioned by you in the tool. Also, details about the counselling round in which you will be offered admissions into the college as well as branch will also be mentioned. Students will also be informed about the “Closing Rank” at which the specific college and engineering branch will be offered for admissions. Find out more about JEE Main Cut-Off Predictor here.

Candidates need to note that the predictions made in the college predictor tool are done on the basis of closing ranks of JEE Main 2016.

Step 1- Enter rank/predicted rank

In the first step, aspirants need to fill in their JEE Main rank or the rank they expect to achieve in the engineering exam (when the result has not been declared).

You are also given the option of finding your expected rank in JEE Main, all you need to do is click on a small blue link stating – “Find your Rank”. On clicking this link a window opens and here you can view the “Expected Marks in JEE Main” and the corresponding rank of students in JEE Main. However, it should be noted here that the ranks listed here are particularly shown on the basis of your JEE Main marks/predicted scores.

Step 2 – Enter rank type

After entering the expected rank in the JEE Main College Predictor you will have to select from ‘Other rank’ or ‘Home State Rank’ in the – Enter Rank Type field.

In JEE Main, seats are reserved for students under the home state quota. As part of this quota, seats are reserved for aspirants on the basis of their state of eligibility, which is, state from where he/she has completed his/her Class XI and Class XII. Such, students are given preference for securing admissions in colleges located in their home state.

Step 3- Select category

In the next field, you will have to select from any of the listed categories, which aregeneral, general-physically disabled (general-PD), other backward classes (OBC), other backward classes-physically disabled (OBC-PD), schedule caste (SC), schedule caste-physically disabled (SC-PD), schedule tribe (ST) and schedule tribe physically disabled (ST-PD), that they filled in their JEE Main application form.

Step 4- Select counselling round

In this section of JEE Main College Predictor, you need to select the counselling round for which you want to predict your college and branch. The counselling round option available for selection are – Counselling Rounds (All), Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Spot round and Extra spot round.

In the first three counselling rounds, only government colleges are offered to shortlisted candidates. However, if after these rounds also some seats are still left vacant then two additional counselling rounds are conducted these are called spot round and extra spot round. Private engineering colleges can take part only in the spot and extra round of counselling for JEE Main.

After filling all these fields, you need to click on the “Search button”. The first time a candidate fills all the above mentioned details, a list of 15 colleges will be reflected before them. At the end of the list, there is a button stating – Load more results, on clicking this button another 15 colleges will be listed for students.

Toward the end of the list of expected colleges that will offer admissions to you in particular branches on the basis of your JEE Main rank/predicted ranks, you are given an option to invite your friends to come and use the college predictor tool. Apart from this, students can also email or print the list of colleges in which they are expected to be offered admissions. This option can prove useful to you because it provides you with an opportunity to take a print out of the list of colleges in which you can secure admission and you can then discuss these predictions with your friends, teachers or parents for their approval and suggestions.

Students can also view more details about the colleges listed for them on the basis of their JEE Main rank or expected rank by downloading the college’s e-brochure. Apart from this, students are also provided with a feature to compare any four colleges in which they can expect to secure admissions in the counselling round specified in the College Predictor Tool of Shiksha.com.

Yes. Students with valid JEE Main scores can apply for admissions through the WBJEE counselling. However, these students will be eligible for allotment only in the 10% approved seats offered by the self-financing colleges and institutes participating in the state-level counselling.

Yes the SRMJEEE paper pattern is similar to JEE Main however, the difficulty level is not equivalent to JEE main and the question paper is adjusted to moderate level difficulty level which will be easy for most students.
