CUET Prep Strategy: If preparing along with Boards

If you are preparing for your Class 12 boards exam and CUET UG exam simultaneously, follow these preparation tips:

• Start with Class 12 NCERT books as they serve for both - Boards & CUET exam.
• Give required time to Boards study and CUET study every day, so neither of their preparation gets pushed aside.
• Prioritize chapters that are present in both boards and CUET and then move on to the rest of the chapters.
• Practice Language and General Test questions daily. Start with easy questions and then move on to the difficult ones.
• As CUET question papers will include MCQs while Boards exams have subjective questions, set aside some time for MCQ practice.
• First start with topic-wise and/or chapter-wise tests, then slowly move on to full-length mock tests.

CUET Prep Strategy: If preparing after Boards exams are over

If you are planning to prepare after Class 12 Boards exams are over, following preparation strategy will be useful:

• Create a subject checklist you are planning to opt for in CUET exam.
• With Boards exams over, set a time for each domain subject, language and GAT every day.
• Make a timetable in a way that you can complete the syllabus before exam and still have at least 15 days for full length mock tests.
• Read NCERT books carefully and make short notes for each subject to cover the entire CUET syllabus.
• After understanding a chapter, take an MCQ test to test your knowledge and identify the weak areas.
• Once the syllabus is over, take full-length mock tests under exam timings and analyze the paper once done.
• Keep the last week to revise notes and avoid starting new topics at the end.

National Testing Agency releases the CUET UG admit card only for registered candidates. Before admit card, NTA releases CUET UG city intimation slip for registered candidates. This is a preliminary document, issued to candidates to inform them of their allotted exam city and schedule to help them make travel and accommodation arrangements beforehand.

The CUET admit card is released around 5-7 days before the exam day at cuet.nta.nic.in. Candidates have to enter their application number and password on the download link to get their hall ticket. It is a mandatory document and must be taken to the exam hall. No entry to a candidate is provided if they fail to bring the hard copy of their admit card.

Note: Candidates do not need to take their city slip with them to the exam hall as it is just an informational document.

CUET Exam Day Checklist

Students must ensure to keep check on below mentioned things on exam day:

Students must prepare from the past year question papers to get an idea of the structure of the exam. The National Testing Agency has released the CUET 2026 question paper on its portal. The CUET subject-wise papers are now available in the public domain along with their answer key. Candidates can download the CUET question papers and their respective CUET answer keys for top UG subjects here for free.

Note: CUET UG 2027 question papers will be released after NTA conducts the exam and releases the result. However, candidates who will appear for the exam will be able to check their question papers in CUET provisional answer key & response sheet.

NTA releases the answer key for all subjects and common papers at cuet.nta.nic.in, including CUET provisional answer key, response sheet, and final answer key. With the help of the provisional answer key and response sheet, candidates can calculate their estimated scores out of 250, using the NTA CUET marking scheme. NTA also allows candidates to raise objections against any question for which they believe the option in the answer key is incorrect. Once the challenges received are reviewed by NTA, the final answer key is released which is used to

The CUET 2027 response sheet will include the answers selected by the candidates on exam day. Candidates will have to match their recorded responses with the answer key to determine what score they will get for a question. Candidates must note that the response sheet is open for a limited time-period only.

The National Testing Agency releases the CUET UG result on its official website. Candidates who receive the scorecards can then apply to their target university using their NTA scores for the counselling process.

A candidate's CUET scorecard will include following details:

• Name of candidate
• Subject-wise score
• Subject-wise percentile

CUET Marks v/s Percentile

There are two scores calculated in CUET UG exam: raw scores and the percentile. Students must know the difference between both before knowing how to calculate them.

• CUET Raw Marks: It is the score out of 250, calculated using the marking scheme laid down by the National Testing Agency. It simply indicates a candidate's performance in each subject.
• CUET Percentile: The percentile score or NTA score is the one that is calculated to measure how a candidate's score compares to the scores of other candidates. To calculate a candidate's percentile score, the number of candidates who scored equal to or lower than a particular score is divided by the total number of candidates who took the exam.

How is CUET Percentile Calculated?

NTA calculates CUET percentile separately for each session. Following steps are used to convert raw scores into percentile:

1. Note number of candidates who appeared for the exam. Let the number be N
2. Filter all students in one shift and arrange them in decreasing order based on their CUET NTA score.
3. Note the raw score of each candidate (T) and count the number of students whose raw scores are less than or equal to Denote this number as M
4. Then the CUET percentile score is calculated as:

P= M*100/N

Why is Normalisation Process Used in CUET?

The National Testing Agency uses CUET normalisation process to ensure a fair evaluation process of each candidate's answer sheet. As every slot may have a different difficulty level, it may impact their scores. To bridge this gap, the normalisation process is used. It also ensures a consistent and fair ranking system. Simply put, CUET normalisation process provides equal opportunity to all candidates who appeared for a different exam shift/day for the same subject.

The cutoff refers to the minimum marks one has to secure to qualify for the exam. The CUET cutoff is released separately by participating institutes on their official website. Candidates have to register for the counselling process of a university to be eligible for admission based on cut off list released.

The CUET 2027 counselling process will be conducted by the participating institutes separately. Each institute will release its merit list based on the qualifying candidates after the declaration of the result. Interested candidates will have to register and then participate in the CUET counselling process, which will be held online. In general, there are approximately three rounds of counselling and the number of rounds may vary depending on the seat vacancy.

After the CUET 2027 seat allotment result is declared, candidates will have to accept the admission offer by reporting to the institutes and getting their documents verified. There are certain colleges where, instead of counselling, interview rounds will be conducted. NTA will inform the admission process for those programmes separately in the information brochure of CUET.

3. Appear for CUET UG exam: CUET UG exam is a computer-based test conducted by NTA. The exam was held over multiple days in 2-3 shifts.
4. CUET UG Answer Key Release: NTA released the CUET UG answer key online. Candidates can calculate their approximate score with the help of the answer key.
5. Declaration of CUET Results: NTA releases the CUET results after reviewing the objections received. Candidates can check their subject-wise score and NTA percentile.
6. University-Wise Application Release: Candidates must visit the official website of the university to apply through CUET UG scores. Candidates must create their login account and enter course and college preferences.
7. Release of Merit List/ Cut Offs: Based on preferences added, CUET-accepting colleges release the CUET cutoff list or merit list on their official website.
