The Consortium of NLUs prescribes CLAT eligibility criteria 2027 for five-year LLB, and LLM courses for academic requirements, minimum marks, and age limit. Read the CLAT exam 2027 eligibility requirements here.

CLAT Eligibility Criteria 2027: The Consortium of NLUs will conduct the CLAT Exam in December. The CLAT Exam will be held in pen-and-paper mode. The Consortium will announce the CLAT Exam Dates 2027 along with official notification. The CLAT Notification is expected in June 2026. The CLAT 2027 Application Process is expected to begin as soon as the notice is out.

Candidates must understand the CLAT 2027 eligibility criteria for undergraduate and postgraduate courses before starting to fill the CLAT Application Form. CLAT 2027 Application Form can be filled in online mode only. It must be noted that the eligibility criteria for five year LLB and LLM courses are different. The eligibility criteria for CLAT defines the educational requirements, minimum marks, and age limit that an aspirant must fulfill to fill the application form and secure a seat at National Law Universities in India

CLAT UG 2027 Eligibility Criteria

Parameters that candidates need to meet to fulfill CLAT eligibility criteria for undergraduate (UG ) level law courses are mentioned below. Candidates must ensure that they meet the required CLAT UG 2027 Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates should clear Class 12 with a minimum 45 per cent aggregate (applicable for candidates belonging to General/ Other Backward Class (OBC)/ Person with Disability (PwD)/ Non-Resident Indian (NRI)/ Person of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) category)
  • Candidates should clear Class 12 with a minimum 40 per cent aggregate (applicable for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST) category)
  • Candidates appearing for their Class 12 board examinations in March/April are also eligible to apply for CLAT 2027 exam. However, such candidates need to produce proof of passing Class 12 or equivalent exam at the time of admission. Candidates unable to produce the evidence shall forfeit their right of admission through CLAT exam

Q:   How will I know if I am eligible to appear in CLAT exam or not?

In order to know if you are eligible or not check the official notification and the eligibility criteria. There is no other way to check the the eligibility criteria.  Do not fill the form without checking the eligibility criteria. 

Q:   What if I am not satisfied with the CLAT seat allotment?
A: 

If the candidates is not satisfied with the CLAT seat allotment result, they can either accept or opt for upgradingt the college alloted. The Freeze option is used by candidates to confirm their choice of NLU. Apply for upgrade option is used when candidates want to change the allotted institute to his or her higher choice (upward shifting).

Q:   Can I get NLU if my CLAT Rank is 1500?
A: 

Yes, with a CLAT Rank of 1500, you have a very good chance of getting into several good NLUs. Some fo the NLU where your chances are high are NLIU Bhopal or NLU Jodhpur.

NLUs Admission Criteria 2027

In order to get admission in NLUs, it is mandatory to appear for CLAT Exam. Candidates must fulfill the NLU admission criteria to get considered. Only those candidates who will meet the CLAT Cutoff Score 2027 are eligible to appear in the CLAT Counselling Process. Each NLU has its own CLAT Reservation Policy. Those who are filling the admission under the domicile category must ensure they do have all the required documents. All the documents will be verified during the counselling process.

Many students feel the AILET exam is a bit tougher than CLAT because it has fewer seats and high competition. The AILET syllabus focuses more on reasoning and legal aptitude. Both tests need good preparation, but AILET 2027 usually has a higher cutoff for AILET colleges under NLU Delhi.

No, the CLAT Admit Card 2027 is not out yet. The admit card will likely be released on November 15, 2026. The official schedule has not been announced yet.

No. Since IIULER has officially joined the Consortium of NLUs, it no longer conducts a separate entrance test for admission to IIULER BA LLB (Hons.) course. Admission is strictly based on the CLAT (UG) merit list. If you miss the CLAT window, you generally cannot apply for that academic year.
