The NLU Fee Structure 2026 comprises fees for CLAT colleges and AILET college too. Studying a five-year LLB degree or an LLM course at the NLUs comes with a cost i.e. tuition and other fees can go upward of 5 lakhs p.a. In this article, we look at the fee structure of the NLUs, various components, including one-time payments and refunds. 
NLU Fee Structure

With the number of law aspirants increasing every year, it is important to understand not only how to get admission in NLUs but also what the fee structure. For 25 National Law Universities (NLUs) the admission is conducted through Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). For NLU Delhi, the admission is through AILET. Once you clear the exam, you need to appear for the counselling process. To get admission to any of the NLUs it is mandatory to pay admission fee.

The fee for undergraduate courses at NLUs ranges from INR 5 Lakh to INR 5.6 Lakh, and for postgraduate courses, the fee can same. In this article, we have listed all the NLUs with fee structure for the five-year LLB courses i.e. BA LLB, BCom LLB, BBA LLB, as well as the LLM course. The exam pattern of AILET BA LLB 2026 is expected to be same as previous years. The BA LLB course exam pattern for AILET 2026 will be as under:

AILET question papers for BA LLB (Hons), LLM and PhD courses have different structures therefore, candidates should check the exam pattern for their respective courses before taking the exam. Q:   What is the marking scheme of AILET for BA LLB?
A:

The marking scheme for AILET will be as under-

  • +1 mark each correct answer 
  • -0.25 marks for each incorrect attempt. 
  • No marks will be awarded or deducted for questions not attempted
Q:   Is there negative marking in AILET 2026 Exam?
A:

Candidates must note that the AILET Exam 2026 has negative marking too. The criteria for negative marking will be based on the formula 0.25*4=1 that means per wrong answer 0.25 Marks will be deducted. Therefore, four wrong answers will lead to deduction of 1 Mark. Candidates must be very careful while attempting the questions paper of AILET 2026. Candidates are advised to solve mock tests and previous years' question papers to get hand on things. Candidates must keep track of time while practicing for AILET 2026 exam.

Q:   Why CLAT Exam Analysis is important?
A:

CLAT Exam Analysis helps those who have appeared for the exam and those who are preparing for next session. The analysis helps candidates to know the type of questions asked, the difficulty level and how to attempt the paper.

Q:   What is CLAT Exam Pattern?
A:

The CLAT exam for both the undergraduate and postgraduate courses will be conducted for 2-hour; i.e. 2 pm to 4 pm. Candidates must note that the exam will be conducted in offline mode. There will be 120 MCQs. Total number of sections in the question paper will be five. 

Q:   Is it necessary to pass in individual sections of CLAT?
A:

There will be no sectional qualifying criterion for CLAT 2027. The overall marks will be considered while preparing the merit list for CLAT. But to ensure a good score, candidates must ensure a high number of attempts with full accuracy.

NUJS is the most expensive. The fees you've mentioned is per semester. A year has 2 semesters at NUJS.
