CLAT is only exam in India that offers chance to get admission to NLUs. Considered IITs of Law, NLUs are top-ranked Law colleges in India. The first-ever NLU in India was established in 1986, named National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore. Accepted by many private Law colleges
Apart from participating National Law Universities (NLUs), many private law colleges across India also accept CLAT scores for admission to their LLB programmes. Every year, many private institutions sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Consortium of NLUs to reserve a certain number of seats for CLAT qualified candidates. Currently, around 60 private law colleges have partnered with Consortium.
In addition, many other private law schools that are not affiliated with Consortium also consider CLAT marks during admissions. These institutions may not reserve seats specifically for CLAT candidates, but a valid CLAT score can still improve a candidate's chances of getting admission.
