SNAP Preparation Tips to ace General English
The General English section of SNAP has questions similar to Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension section of other MBA entrance exams but the difficulty level is much lower. SNAP preparation 2025 for this section must revolve around grammar, vocabulary and verbal reasoning.
- Start reading English novels and newspapers early on. Dedicate at least an hour every day to reading. Note down unfamiliar words and phrases you come across while reading and immediately check the dictionary for its meaning and origin. This activity will not only help you to develop reading habit but also contribute in making your vocabulary rich.
- Begin your SNAP 2025 preparation with studying the fundamentals. High School English Grammar & Composition by Wren & Martin is the best book for this. Make short notes of definitions with examples of all the grammatical terms and revise them every two days.
- For strengthening vocabulary, read Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis. You must study English words in terms of its meaning, usage and origin. There are many words in English whose meaning changes in different context. SNAP 2025 may have such questions too. If your concept is clear, you won’t struggle in confusing questions.
- Break down words to understand their origin. For example, prescient (pre-scient) means having or showing knowledge of events before they take place. The prefix ‘pre’ suggests the word refers to something related to before the event/action.
- There are no Reading Comprehension passages in SNAP exam anymore. For Verbal Ability questions practice a variety of SNAP mock tests.
- Do not spend more than 10 minutes on English section. Also, be mindful of selection of questions. You don’t want negative marking to affect your scores so attempt only those which you are confident of answering with maximum accuracy.

SNAP candidates are not required to apply separately for all SIU campuses. They can select colleges in the SNAP application form. However, they need to fill the PI-shortlist form separately for whichever colleges they get shortlisted.
