MAH-CET MBA 2017 was conducted by IBPS on March 4 but was marked by delay and mismanagement.
The test dashboard resembled the layout of standard IBPS tests. The management at the centers was extremely poor and left a lot to be desired. The printed time on the Hall Ticket was 9 am for the morning slot and test takers were asked to report 30 minutes before the time mentioned. However, the exam started an hour later at 10 am!
Test takers in the afternoon slot faced a similar problem as they reached test centers at 12.30 pm and the exam started at 2 pm. However, no technical glitches were reported and the exam went off smoothly.

MAH-CET MBA 2017 was divided into the four sections.
| Test |
Number of questions |
| Test of Verbal Ability/Reading Comprehension |
50 |
| Test of Quantitative Aptitude |
50 |
| Test of Logical Reasoning |
75 |
| Test of Abstract Reasoning |
25 |
| Total |
200 |
There were 5 options per question and the total time allotted was 150 minutes. Since there was no negative marking on the exam, guessing answers on tougher questions or when time was running out was a good strategy for the exam.
The overall difficulty level of MAH-CET MBA 2017 was moderate-difficult. The Logical Reasoning section was on the difficult side while the Abstract Reasoning section was relatively easier.
Coming to other sections-- Quantitative Aptitude section was of moderate to high level of difficulty, while the Test of Verbal Ability/Reading Comprehension can be classified as easy to moderate. The morning and evening slots had a similar level of difficulty across the sections.
One common term can describe the Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability sections: time consuming!
With 5 answer choices per section, and many questions with sub-parts or more than one correct option-- managing time during MAH-CET MBA 2017 was a major challenge this year!
Analysis of individual sections.
Test of Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (50 questions)
While many questions were easy--time management was a challenge, as many questions required students to identify more than one option as the correct answers. With the exception of a couple of questions vocabulary was tested in context of the reading passages and required time. A couple of vocabulary questions asked test takers to pick out both synonyms and antonyms! Words such as ‘emancipate, pragmatic, ludicrous’ were tested. Grammar and diction were tested in context of sentences. ‘Odd sentence Out’ questions were perhaps the easiest in the section.
A genuine attempt of around 30-35 questions would have been a good one for this section.
Test of Quantitative Aptitude (50 questions)
The Test of Quantitative Aptitude had 22 questions on Data Interpretation and the 28 questions on Quant. There were four sets on Data Interpretation questions – 2 sets of 5 questions each and 2 sets of 6 questions each. Out of the four sets, one set based on a line graph was easy but the other sets were of moderate difficulty level. The Quant section was a mixture of DS, Arithmetic, Geometry and Probability with majority of the questions from Arithmetic. There were 5 questions on Number Series.
A genuine attempt of around 28-30 questions would have been a good one.
Test of Logical Reasoning (75 questions)
The Logical Reasoning section was a mixture of Critical Reasoning(CR) and Analytical Reasoning(AR). While the CR Questions were based on conclusions, strong/weak arguments, syllogisms, the AR questions were based on input-output, directions, circular/linear Arrangement, coding-decoding, blood relations etc. In the section two-three sets of AR were on the difficult side.
A genuine attempt of around 40-42 would be considered a good one.
Test of Abstract Reasoning (25 questions)
This was, by far, the easiest section in MAH-CET MBA 2017. There were 25 questions in the test, mostly of easy to medium level of difficulty. The questions were based on complete the series, wrong term in the series and analogies.
A good attempt in this section would be in the range of 18-20 questions.
All the Best for results!
