This article aims to help all those looking for an answer to the question “Is NCERT enough for NEET?” But the answer is not that simple. There is no denial of the fact that NCERT books for NEET are the primary resources for preparation. Even the NEET 2022 toppers have vouched for the importance of the NCERT books for NEET preparation. Even though they stated that they did not refer to any other books except NCERT NEET books, it does not incur that one should study only from NCERT NEET books. Here in this article of Shiksha, we would assess the importance of NCERT books for NEET 2023 preparation

How Important are NCERT Books for NEET to Crack the Test?

Here we bring to you the advantages of studying from the NCERT books for NEET while preparing for the exam.

Simple and easy to understand

Completing the syllabus of NCERT books for NEET is just like laying the foundation for a building. You cannot build anything on the ground unless there is a strong foundation underneath it. NCERT NEET books are designed to help a student understand the concepts in a step-by-step manner. These books help students understand the basic concepts, which are essential for rock-solid preparation.

NCERT books for NEET are simple to understand and language is not a barrier. Most reference books are complicated and use advanced vocabulary. A beginner may not be able to understand the concepts from a reference book owing to these complexities.

Majority of the NEET questions are NCERT based

Analysis of previous years' question papers by experts suggests that most questions can be solved if the candidate has completed the syllabus from NEET NCERT books. It has been observed that most questions in the Biology section of the NEET question paper are NCERT based.

Concise and to-the-point

NCERT is the go-to book for quick revision. They are concise and represent everything systematically. NCERT NEET books have informative tables and diagrams which help in retaining things for a longer duration. A candidate may take days to revise a thousand-page reference book, while the NCERT NEET books can be completed in a day or two, thus saving time.

Cost-effective and availability

NEET NCERT books are a lot cheaper when compared to reference books. The cost of an NCERT NEET book ranges between INR 150 to INR 500, whereas, a reference book can cost anywhere from INR 500 to INR 2000. Also, NCERT books are available nationwide and are easy to find.

Finally, Are NCERT Books Enough for Cracking NEET 2023?

The answer to this question is “no”. NCERT books for NEET are enough to qualify for the examination but to get a good score/ rank one must refer to other books as well. Since both AIIMS MBBS and JIPMER MBBS have merged with NEET, NTA has raised the bar for NEET. Both these examinations required extra effort and could not be cleared based on NCERT only.

While each and every NEET takers studies from the NCERT books since it is the basic requirement to qualify for the examination. But to raise the bar of preparation and performance in NEET, you must refer to other books and practice from the test series. Reference books play a major role in obtaining a high score and rank. Reference books and practice tests will give you an edge over the others.

It is important that one starts his/her preparation with NCERT books and moves towards reference books in the advanced stages of preparation. NEET preparation must be NCERT-focused and it must always be treated with utmost importance, but it is difficult to get great results if one relies solely on these books.

Practice Plays a Key Role

Now that less than six months are left for NEET 2023, students do not have much time left to explore multiple resources. They also need to get enough practice by solving previous years' NEET question papers and NEET mock tests. This will give them exposure to different types of questions and topics which will help them answer any kind of questions asked in the NEET question paper.

Based on this practice, understanding the chapters from the NEET syllabus would be enhanced. To be precise, studying from NCERT NEET books or other NEET reference books and practising through question papers and mock tests complement each other to result in acing NEET 2022.

JEE and NEET are both held on an annual basis, and with limited seats, passing these exams becomes more difficult for students. Furthermore, the number of seats in medical colleges is much lower than in engineering colleges. Due to the lesser number of seats available in medical colleges and the high level of competition in NEET getting into a good medical college is challenging. As for difficulty level, National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is slightly tougher than Joint Entrance Examination-Mains but easier than Joint Entrance Examination-Advanced, but that is subjective, as seats are comparatively limited in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, making it more competitive. Least Difficult: JEE Mains. Difficult: NEET. Most Difficulty: JEE Advanced. I hope this will help you.
