NEET 2024 Preparation Tips and Strategy
Here we bring some of the NEET preparation tips and strategies to be followed in the next few months. NEET 2024 exam is scheduled to be held on May 5, 2024.
Check Revised Topics of NEET 2024 Syllabus: As you must be aware, the NEET 2024 syllabus has undergone major changes. While some topics or chapters have been removed in all three subjects, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, there are some additions as well. Even though you prepared or completed the NEET syllabus in advance, you should relook into it to take stock of NEET 2024 deleted syllabus and which topics you need to prepare afresh, based on the additions.
Do not be depressed if you find out a topic you had prepared well has been removed from the NEET syllabus 2024. These topics are interrelated and will eventually help you in the long run. However, you should start preparing for the topics which have been added based on the state Board syllabus. Talking about preparing with this updated syllabus, Nabin Kaarki, National Academic Director, Aakash Institute mentions, “The balance between reduced content and the intensity of competition makes it necessary for candidates to adopt a strategic blend of resource gathering and focused practice.”

How to Prepare for New Topics in NEET 2024 Syllabus: While it is easier to leave out topics which have been omitted from the NEET 2024 syllabus, the new topics added to it can pose a challenge. For this, you need to first list down the topics or chapters which have been added to the NTA NEET syllabus 2024. If you are already familiar, you must revise and practice the questions. In case you are not, you need to seek the help of your teachers or peers who are studying in other state boards, with these topics in their syllabus.
Sharing the strategy, Kaarki says, “Emphasis should be placed on the collection of study materials for new topics, relying on trusted sources and both old and new NCERT books. Rigorous practice through solving ample questions, embracing experimental learning for deep comprehension, and maintaining the relevance of omitted topics within chapters are highlighted as crucial strategies.”
Assess Your Preparation Level: With less than six months to go for the NEET 2024 exam, it is a must to assess your preparation level. With regular mock tests and question paper solving, you must have realized your strong and weak areas and must have also noted down how much is left to prepare in the syllabus. The next step will be to plan accordingly. Put higher emphasis on the topics with high weightage. You still have chance to improve on your weak areas. This can be done by brushing up theories and concepts and solving various questions from those topics.

Improve the Momentum of Preparation: At this stage, you must increase the pace of your NEET 2024 preparation. You must focus fully on NEET, even more than your Board exams or the class tests if you want to crack this exam. By now, if you were studying three chapters a day, you must target minimum five to six chapters, along with sectional mock tests, or solving at least one previous year NEET question papers in a proctored manner. Setting targets is key. Kaustav Bauri, NEET 2023 topper with AIR 3 explained, “I used to set personal targets or goals to complete a particular chapter or topic. For example, I used to set goals like completing Human Physiology by the end of this month or completing Inorganic Chemistry by the end of this week. I focused on completing those. Along with that, I did regular practice. After completing each topic, I used to solve practice questions on those.”
Utilise Revision Notes: Revision is an important aspect of preparation. If you do not revise the important topics or chapters for NEET 2024, you will tend to forget what you have learned already. You must maintain a notebook carrying the revision notes, key pointers, diagrams or the summary, along with some key questions and answers in a notebook. Along with learning a new chapter, you should also revise the previous areas or topics you have already prepared.

Best Books for NEET Preparation 2024: By now you must have shortlisted the NEET 2024 books to study from. While undoubtedly NCERT books for NEET 2024 serve as the best source of preparation, given the addition of topics in the NEET 2024 syllabus will require you to refer to some more NEET books for 2024. For this, you should rely on your teachers or guides and refer to the revised or updated study materials provided by your coaching institutes. Moreover, as per NTA guidelines, referring to state-level books from Maharashtra or Manipur will also help you get an idea on the newly added topics. “it is very important to complete NCERT books. So, I prepared and read NCERT very carefully. Along with that, I solved all the questions I got from the modules and books available. I prepared all subjects from these books and modules. For Physics, one can do HC Verma, for Chemistry, RC Mukherjee is good,” suggests Arnab Pati, AIR 19, NEET 2023.

Take Mock Tests: Mock tests for NEET 2024 are key to success in the exam. Experts suggest that you should start taking NEET mock tests at least six months prior to the exam. Hence, by now, you must have started taking mock tests. While ideally, you should start with sectional mocks, at this stage, full-length mocks are the way to go. “The mock tests provided to us were diverse and covered all possible topics which helped us be well-prepared. The regular practice of questions and taking frequent mock tests followed by their analysis helped me a lot as only theoretical preparation does not suffice for NEET. Moreover, there were certain concepts which I could grasp only after practice.,” says Dhruv Advani, AIR 5 in NEET 2023.

I will not say, it is impossible. It is possible, but you have work very hard and must give your 200% effort to crack these competitive exams. In my opinion, it is better to take coaching for NEET exam. Coaching makes your exam preparation easier. Sometimes, if you get lots of doubt then you can get it cleared by your tutor who has got subject knowledge.
Students get individual attention at coaching institutes and they focus on learning and development of students as per their requirement. Coaching centers also teach you a lot of tips, tricks and time management that help you to crack NEET exam. But, you have to be careful in choosing a right and resourceful coaching center, as there are many fraud coaching centers that works for money and not for delivering knowledge to students.
