Nearly 30 police officers were injured in the clashes, and over 60 rioters have been detained.

Around noon, members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal staged a demonstration calling for the removal of Aurangzebโ€™s tomb. During the protest, an effigy of the Mughal emperor was set on fire, sparking rumours of a holy book being desecrated. Videos of this incident quickly spread across social media, escalating tensions.

BJP MLA from Nagpur Central, Pravin Datke, has claimed that the violence was pre-planned and that CCTV cameras in the area were deliberately damaged, making it difficult to track the events. The Maharashtra Police have assured that an investigation is underway and have cautioned citizens against believing misleading claims circulating online.

While there is no official confirmation yet, the ongoing situation in Nagpur could make it challenging for students to attend their CBSE Class 10 exams today.
