MP Board 10th Exam Pattern 2026: Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) released the MP Board 10th marking scheme 2026 for alll subjects. Students can access the same on the board's website and also on this page. The state education board prescribes the MPBSE 10th exam pattern 2026 through the MPBSE 10th exam model question paper and also through notifications. Students preparing for the MP Board 10th examinations must go through the MPBSE 10th exam pattern 2026 for a better understanding of the questions that are generally asked in the MP Board 10th examinations. Moreover, with the help of MPBSE Class 10 Exam Pattern 2026, the students can also understand the total number of questions asked, the marks required to pass the exam and more.

Last year, the board revised the MP Board 10th exam pattern. As per the changes introduced by the board, the number of short-answer-type questions (2 marks) has been increased, while the number of long-answer questions (4 marks) is decreased in the MP Board class 10 exams. 

The MPBSE 10th theoretical exams will be 3 hours, the duration of the practicals is only 2 hours. For subjects without practicals, the minimum passing mark is 33, while for subjects with practicals, the minimum passing marks differ with each subject. Q:   What types of questions are asked in MP Board 10th exams?

The MP Board class 10 question papers include multiple-choice questions (MCQs), very short answer, short answer, and long answer types. In some subjects, especially Science and Maths, diagrams and problem-solving questions are also given. Objective questions help in scoring quick marks. Time management is important as the paper has mixed formats. Each question carries specific marks mentioned clearly.

So far, for the MPBSE 10th exams 2026, the board has not made any change in the exam pattern. However, the board may update the exam pattern if there will be a requirement. Last year, the board revised the MP Board class 10th exam pattern. The number of short-answer-type questions (2 marks) is now increased, while the number of long-answer questions (4 marks) has been decreased.

Q:   What is the minimum required marks to pass in the MPBSE class 10th exam?

As per the board, the students must obtain a minimum of 33% marks in each paper of the exam to pass MP Board 10th exams. The students should also score a minimum of 33% aggregate marks to pass the exam. If a student fails in one or two subjects, they will be marked as fail. However, every year, the board conduct the MPBSE 10th compartmental exams to allow students to pass the exam in the same year. Students who are short in any subject with just 1 or 2 marks will be given grace marks and will pass the exam.

The MPBSE 10th exams follow a subject-wise paper pattern. Each paper is usually of 100 marks, with 80 marks for theory and 20 marks for internal assessment or practicals, depending on the subject. MP Board 10th Marking Scheme: Key Highlights

  • For high school and intermediate exams with non-practical subjects: The question paper will be 80 marks for theory and 20 marks will be for practicals/project work.

  • 40% questions in both Classes 10 and 12 theory exams will be objective in nature. While the rest 40% will be subjective and 20 per cent of questions will be analytical in nature.

  • No change is there in the Old Business, NSQF, and D.El.Ed subjects

Q:   What is the marking scheme of the MP Board 10th exam?

The board releases the MP Board class 10 sample paper for the students on its website. Sample papers released by the board also include the marking scheme of the exam. The total marks of each subject is 100. The subjects which have practical tests are marked as 80 for theory and 20 for practical. Both multiple-choice and subjective-type questions are asked in the exam.

Usually, each MCQ is of one mark. On the other hand, the marking scheme for subjective-type questions may vary from section to section. Students need to secure at least 33% marks in each subject to clear the exam.

However, the chances of any major changes in the MP Board exam pattern are very low as the board usually does not make changes in the exam pattern every year. On this page, we have provided last year’s exam pattern. As per last year’s exam pattern, each paper of the MPBSE 10th exams will be held for a total of 100 marks.
