IIT Madras Zanzibar has unveiled plans for its second batch of students for the academic year 2024-25, accompanied by a significant expansion and refinement of its admission process. With overwhelming enthusiasm from students both in India and abroad, the renowned institute is considering increasing the number of seats for its B.S. in Data Science and AI, and M.Tech in Data Science and AI programs.

IIT Madras Zanzibar has been diligently exploring industry collaborations and exchange programs to ensure a substantive teaching-learning experience aligned with market demands. Notably, the institute became the pioneer among IITs in establishing a full-fledged campus in a foreign country back in 2023, signaling its commitment to global education standards.

The upcoming admission cycle boasts extended application deadlines, with the last date to apply for the B.S. program set for 15th April 2024 and for the M.Tech program on 15th March 2024. To accommodate the growing interest from a diverse range of applicants, IIT Madras Zanzibar has expanded its test center network, now encompassing 19 international and 19 domestic centers across Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia.

Emphasizing the unique attributes of the programs, Prof. Preeti Aghalayam, Director-in-Charge and Dean of the School of Engineering and Science, expressed confidence in the institute's ability to make a profound impact on the educational landscape of the region. Prof. Aghalayam highlighted the institute's mission to unite young minds from around the world in pursuit of skill-based education, underscoring its commitment to fostering global collaboration and diversity.

The admission process promises to be rigorous and comprehensive, spanning three stages to evaluate applicants based on not just their academic qualifications but also their co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements. This holistic approach ensures that candidates with diverse skill sets and backgrounds are given due consideration.

Prospective students can anticipate a screening test, scheduled for 9th June 2024 for the B.S. program and 31st March 2024 for the M.Tech program, which will assess aptitude across various subjects. Successful candidates from the screening stage will progress to the interview phase, which constitutes the final stage of the selection process.

With its forward-looking approach and commitment to excellence, IIT Madras Zanzibar continues to attract top talent from around the globe, solidifying its position as a premier institution in the field of Data Science and AI education. As the institute gears up to welcome its second batch of students, it reaffirms its dedication to shaping the future of education through innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity.
