Availability of resources

CISR NET syllabus 2022 for life science is huge. There are several sections and successful candidates never skip any section. Don’t try to run after shortcuts, read reference books for each section. No particular book will be sufficient to provide you all the information on a particular topic. You should have access to good books which are suggested by NET-qualified candidates and teachers. Apart from books, search for online notes and videos on the internet, these are also great resources for CISR NET.

Focus on concepts and fundamentals

If we look at the CISR NET previous years' question papers, it is evident that the questions are mostly conceptual and one with a deep understanding of the subject can only score well. If you are just mugging up the subject, it may not be helpful during exam. Upgrade your ability to think beyond the circle and try to look at things differently. Build your own insight about the topics. Question paper setters often repeat the same questions by tweaking them, you must have a good understanding of the topic to answer such questions.

Make notes

As we already mentioned that the syllabus is huge, and the best way to summarize all sections is to make notes. Every time you come across any new information on a topic, note it down. Also, creating highlights on various topics help in minimizing reading materials. This approach is great for saving precious time before exams. Also, it helps in memorizing critical topics. Remember, the exam is going to be held in MCQ mode, therefore, such one-liners are very helpful to solve objective questions.

Now the question comes of how to make the notes. It’s simple, once you complete a chapter and you are reading a reference book on the same topic, make notes of all new information which was not available in the textbook. Repeat the approach for all chapters of each book that you will read. These notes are going to be really helpful while revising a chapter.

Practice a lot of MCQs

Try to practice as many MCQs as you can before the examination, and try to attempt two or three mock tests every week. Always look for the CSIR NET mock test which is of a similar level. Don’t think that you are appearing for a mock test, consider them your final attempt. The seriousness during the test will help you improve your performance. Apart from mock tests, also practice MCQs on various topics to strengthen your understanding of concepts. Practicing difficult questions will help you to deal with the tricks and twists in the questions during the examination.

Time management and strategy during the exam

Many aspirants fail to perform well during exams despite preparing well throughout the year. One of the key areas of CISR NET life science preparation is learning time management tricks. One has to be very cautious in choosing the questions he/she wants to attempt first, starting with the easier ones. Also, there will be negative markings for wrong attempts. Therefore, it is advisable to answer only those questions in which you are confident. If you have to guess and attempt a question, do it in section B where the question carries 2 marks. This strategy is not supported in Section C where each question carries 4 marks.

The last thing we would like to convey is, to get rid of all kinds of fear pertaining to the exam. Always keep your confidence level high, and don’t let any kind of negativity surround you. Study well, practice more and maintain consistency, you will certainly achieve success.
