Really good college. I am very happy.
Placements: I am an automobile engineering student. I've seen many companies such as Mahindra providing workshops for the students. Apart from that, there are many teams such racing teams and all where we can be a part of them, and they will provide us with much more information and knowledge on automobile industry.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of the college and hostel is not bad. Wi-Fi connections are available in every classroom but honestly speaking, they're not working every time. They have the best labs fore automobile department. Canteens are available in every block. Hostel mess food is also average.
Faculty: The college has well-qualified faculty members. Most of them provide quality teaching to the students and they're very friendly to the students too (not everyone). Exams and all are conducted periodically and they're having high pass percentages too.
Other: I like vehicles and I was passionate about them, that's why I've chosen this degree. And coming to the college, there aren't many things to explore inside the college. There is a food spot called 'Java' where we can get any food which include subway too.

The college has good facility and infrastructure.
Placements: The placement is good. Many MNC companies are invited, and placement coordinator makes sure that everyone gets placed. Placements are done for the companies from all over India. Companies like HCL, Cognizant, Infosys, Renault Nissan, Ford, Caterpillar visit the college every year for placements.
Infrastructure: SRM classes have Wi-fi facilities in all the classrooms. The ground is available for all the sports and greenery surrounds the campus which gives a good look for every visitors. It also makes one feel comfortable as fresh air comes from trees.
Faculty: The faculty is available for all the subjects, and course material is given for all the units. It is made sure that the students are given full course materials. The course curriculum is arranged in a way that students are filled with required materials so that their knowledge is well served.

Placement are good, infrastructure is awesome and teachers are good too.
Placements: Regarding placements, many core companies used to come and offer an average package of around 6 lakhs. But when companies like TCS, Infosys etc used to come, they took students in bulk with a package of around 2.5-3.5 lakhs. In our college, the placement percentage was of around 90%, and the highest package will be around 20 lakhs this year due to the recession. Most companies like Sennheiser, Dell, TCS, Indiabulls, CTS, MakeMyTrip etc visited the campus.
Infrastructure: The whole campus is fully covered with Wi-Fi. Regarding medical facilities, they have their own hospital where charges are free for SRM students. Regarding labs, they have the instruments with the latest technology. Regarding sports and games, SRM itself provides sponsorship and scholarship to the team and the students pursue better opportunities. The hostel rooms are fine as water and all are available every time and Wi-Fi is working regularly with a high speed. Regarding food in the canteen, it is very good but in the mess, it is not so good.
Faculty: Regarding faculty members, some of them are very qualified and some of them are less dependent. It is on your luck what faculty members you get but in our college, the teacher selection process is available for students such they can get faculty members on their choice. In every class, only 60 students are allowed such that the section is divided. The curriculum which they are following is very useful and regarding exposure, the college takes students for industrial visits every year (in 3rd year).

A place to enjoy and study at the same time.
Placements: The placements depend upon academic performance. The students scoring above 9 are eligible for placements. One requires C.G.P.A to get placement in core company. IT companies recruit the majority of the students. The average salary offered is about 25,000. College helps all the students by providing training for the placements.
Infrastructure: The college has good infrastructure. The beauty of the college draws one's attention. Classrooms are well-equipped with Wi-Fi, AC, and labs. Labs have all apparatus. Students can choose any sports of their choice as there are many options.
Faculty: The faculty is good and knowledgeable as the majority of them are postgraduates. College provides the industrial visit from 2nd year. Student to faculty ratio is okay. The course of the curriculum is useful and flexible as one can choose the subjects to study by themselves.
Other: SRM is not just a place to study as one can enjoy studying here. College gives the students good freedom which allows the students to chase their dreams, but it's a bit expensive to study and live here. Infrastructure is good. Recruiting for core company is less, so students must work hard.

Good placements and college life
Placements: The placements are pretty good for the school of computing and electronics as well, and this year it might be 95% placements. It provides a great opportunity to get a number of jobs here and those looking for higher studies can also be benefited by various exchange programs and scholarships which are provided here.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the university building is excellent. The labs are well-equipped with the latest and a wide range of technology, and the students here are free to utilise them for study purposes. The library is amazing, but the hostels apparently are not that good but the food was good in the mess compared to the other colleges.
Faculty: Most of the schools are recognised with the latest and on going curriculum. The faculty members provide great knowledge and notes for reference. The pattern of study is a little hectic, but it will surely remove the fear of exams by the 2nd year because in one semester, we have 5 cycles of examinations here.

Q:   Is SRM University good for B.Tech?
A:

Here are some positive and negative points of SRM University:

Positive:

  1. Located in Chennai which is a metropolitan city. Three out of five campuses are located in Chennai
  2. You can have a lot of fun
  3. In KTR, there are a lot of opportunities provided to students to develop their profile like hundreds of clubs, teams like robocon, conrods, camber, and 4ze where students can build their own bots, cars and stuff. If you are really interested in your field then you can do anything in SRM
  4. Canteen facilities are excellent
  5. As far as placements are concerned, most students are placed in IT sector. Core companies also visit the campus but they select only one or two students. In a batch of 500600 students i.e. 1520 students are placed in core companies. But still that depends on your skills and we can’t blame the university for that.

Negative:

  1. The student to faculty ratio is too high.
  2. Faculty members are not very highly skilled, though they are postgraduates in their respective field. Most of them have completed M.Tech from other local colleges. There are very few from IITs and foreign universities.
  3. The curriculum is old.
  4. The evaluation system is also not very good.
  5. Very little research happens here. Most of the faculty members don’t have any publications
  6. Also, if you have a lot of money you can join in management quota into any branch you want. Almost half of the students have joined in management quota.

All the best.

The university has partnered with various national and international institutions for an all-round approach to education. SRMIST partnerships include Tokyo University, University of Nevada, Free University of Berlin, Sankara Nethralaya, Banaras Hindu University, BITS Pilani Goa, among others.
