UCEED 2023 exam will be conducted on January 22, 2023. The exam is likely to be conducted by IIT Bombay from 9 am to 12 noon. Candidates need to appear for Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) in order to secure admission in BDes programme offered at colleges accepting UCEED exam scores.

The UCEED exam pattern is such that the exam is of three hours duration and is divided into Part A and Part B. UCEED 2022 Part A exam will be conducted as a Computer Based Test (CBT) wherein aspirants need to attempt 68 questions in 2:30 hours duration. On the other hand, Part B will have one sketching related question which needs to attempted in 20 minutes duration. Candidates need to go through the test pattern as well as UCEED syllabus thoroughly in order to score high and secure a good rank in the exam.

UCEED Eligibility Criteria 2023: Nationality

Candidates meet UCEED eligibility criteria if they are Indian nationals. Apart from this, candidates belonging to Person of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) category also meet the eligibility criteria for UCEED exam. Aspirants who are not citizens of India and do not belong to PIO/ OCI category need to register for UCEED 2022 under the foreign nationals category. Here, it is informed that candidates applying for the UG level design entrance exam under the foreign nationals and PCI/OCI category are not included in the reservation of seats category.

Further, UCEED information brochure reads, “Seats allotted to foreign nationals are supernumerary with a cap of 10% of total available seats in the course. The availability of supernumerary seats will be announced at the time of seat allocation”. On the other hand, candidates belonging to OCI/PCI category belong to open category and not to supernumerary category.

But candidates need to note that irrespective of the category to which they belong they need to appear for UCEED 2022 in order to secure admission in participating colleges.

Aspirants from any category, Open/ SC/ST/OBC,PwD, PIO/OCI/ foreign national need to fulfill all the below-mentioned UCEED eligibility criteria 2022 in order to be allowed to appear for the exam.

UCEED Eligibility Criteria 2023: Age Limit

Candidates belonging to Open/EWS/OBC-NCL category meet UCEED 2022 eligibility criteria if they are born on or after October 1, 1998. On the other hand, SC/ST/PwD category candidates are eligible to apply for the exam if they are born on or after October 1, 1993.

UCEED Eligibility Criteria 2023: Number of Attempts

Candidates can give UCEED exam two times and that also in consecutive years only. However, candidates are informed that the score of the exam is valid for one year only and shall be used for admission in that given year only.

UCEED Eligibility Criteria 2022: Qualifying Exams

Candidates who have cleared the qualifying exam, that is, class 12 or equivalent exam, in 2023 or are appearing for their qualifying exam in 2023, meet UCEED eligibility criteria 2023. Candidates from any stream – Commerce, Science, Arts  and Humanities, meet the eligibility criteria for UCEED exam.

Aspirants who are from the Science stream and have studied subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible to apply for admission at IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad and IIITDM Jabalpur. Candidates from any other stream (Science without Mathematics or Physics or Chemistry, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities) can apply for admission at IIT Bombay, IIT Hyderabad and IIITDM Jabalpur, only.

Note: Candidates who gave their qualifying exam in 2020 or earlier are not eligible to appear for UCEED 2023.

UCEED 2023: List of Qualifying Exams

Candidates can go through the list of qualifying exams that are accepted as part of UCEED eligibility criteria 2022 in the table below:

Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.

Any Public School, Board or University examination in India or in a foreign country recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

HSC vocational examination.

A Diploma recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (www.aicte-india.org) or a State Board of Technical Education of at least 3 years duration.

General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.

High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

Candidates who have completed Class XII (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class XII examination.

In case the Class XII examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.

Note: The 5% reservation for Person with Disability (PwD) candidates is cycled over in a 4-year period, category-wise, as per rules pertaining to the admitting institute. If a PwD seat remains unfilled in a particular year, it will be reverted back to the category from which the PwD seat was assigned for that year.
