UCEED 2020 was held from 10 am to 1 pm on January 18. Find out what experts had to say about the test pattern and difficulty level of UCEED exam, this year.

UCEED Exam Analysis 2020 by Experts

UCEED 2020 was conducted by IIT Bombay on January 18. Most of the students who gave UCEED 2020 shared that the exam was easier as compared to past year's paper. Aspirants further shared that they were happy that IIT Bombay introduced Part B (drawing section) in UCEED exam.

UCEED Exam Analysis 2020 for Part A

There was an unexpected twist in Part A of the paper as compared to the previous years with regard to General knowledge type of questions. The whole of Part A was mainly Aptitude and Math based questions as there was no General knowledge, environmental awareness, current affairs asked whatsoever, as in paintings, performance arts, absolutely nothing was asked, the only exception was one basic question on the colour theory. This time Part A clearly focused on Aptitude- verbal and non verbal reasoning and Mathematics.

For Aptitude/ mental ability the standard questions like series and sequences, odd one out, visual puzzles like counting of figures etc. These questions were standard, just like the aptitude in all the past UCEED question papers.

Some visualization questions were asked for example: A scene was shown with a character in it and from the answer choices given the student had to identify the correct perspective that the character was seeing. Knowledge of perspective is important for this type of questions.

In another visualisation question - A boy was shown carrying a box, and the student had to identify the posture of his legs.

Questions were given on shadows and the student had to identify how shadows behaved for the objects given.

Math questions were mainly of the mensuration type, questions were given on area and volume.

The MSQ section was pretty straight forward in the sense that it did not have complex and confusing answer choices as compared to the previous year questions.

Overall, the students said they were able to finish the paper on time and other than the lack of general knowledge questions the rest were pretty straight forward and anyone well-practiced in past year UCEED papers would have done well in the Part A section of the exam.

An important note here for students answering the UCEED in 2021 would be that just because general knowledge is not asked in UCEED 2020 does not mean you don't take it seriously for UCEED 2021, any year they could revert back to asking more general knowledge for future UCEED exams.

UCEED Exam Analysis 2020 for Part B

Students were able to attempt the sketching question only in the last 30 minutes of the test, even if you finish your theory paper before the first 2 hours and 30 minutes you will still have to wait for the last 30 minutes to start Part B. For the drawing question, the student had to draw the work environment (desk) of a lady professor. A passage was given that described her work table environment. Students had to read the description in the passage and then draw as much detail as they could. The passage was as follows;

UCEED 2020 Drawing Question

‘A lady professor and her husband were having a conversation on the phone. He was upset with her because she was not following her diet plan. She had forgotten to take her lunch box, and her husband was yelling at her and said that he would not cook for her in the future. So she hung up the phone and ordered her 5th cup of tea and 2nd plate of pakodas. She was correcting students math papers at that time and had to complete her research papers and she had a headache. Draw her table and the view of her room.’

This was a pretty straightforward question, with basic practice, sense of detailing, textures and knowledge of perspective a student could easily have drawn this question well. Also since they had mentioned that she had a headache, some tablets and a glass of water is something students could add to the items on her desk. Overall it was an easy question, a student just had to keep an eye on time and draw as much as detail as possible.
