GATE CSE Vs GATE DA: Job Opportunities and Career Scope

Both disciplines have their own benefits. After qualifying for GATE, candidates can either opt for MTech degree and look for jobs at PSUs or MNCs.

GATE MTech admissions

  • A GATE CSE score is widely accepted in various specialisations and computer science programs at top institutions, such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, etc.

  • On the other hand, a GATE DA score is usually restricted to AI, Data Science, and Cognitive Systems-related branches.

A candidate with an MTech degree in CSE has more flexibility, as he/she can later take special elective courses in AI/ML to enhance their skills.

Job Opportunities

  • A MTech CSE graduate can get into jobs like database engineer, software developer engineer, or network engineer.

  • A MTech degree in DA can lead to jobs like AI researcher, Data Science Engineer, Machine Learning Expert, etc.

GATE PSU Jobs

A qualifying GATE score provides candidates with an option to apply for public sector undertakings (PSU jobs).

  • GATE CSE degree students are highly recruited by top PSUs such as ONGC, NTPC, IOCL, etc.

  • For GATE Data Science branch, the chances are low, as it is a newly introduced subject.
