Units and Measurement – Systems of units, fundamental and derived units, accuracy and precision of measuring instruments, Dimensions of physical quantities, etc.

Thermodynamics – First law of thermodynamics, isothermal and adiabatic processes, reversible and irreversible processes, Heat engine and refrigerator, etc.

Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body – Ccentre of mass of a uniform rod, Moment of a force, torque, angular momentum, comparison of linear and rotational motions, etc.

Properties of Bulk Matter – Hooke’s law, Young’s modulus, bulk modulus, Pascal’s law and its applications, Viscosity, Stokes’ law, terminal velocity, streamline and turbulent flow, application of surface tension ideas to drops, bubbles and capillary rise, etc.

Current Electricity – Flow of electric charges in a metallic conductor, drift velocity, electrical energy and power, electrical resistivity and conductivity, series and parallel combinations of resistors, Kirchhoff’s laws and simple applications, etc.

Oscillations and Waves – Displacement as a function of time, periodic functions, oscillations of a loaded spring-restoring force and force constant, Transverse and longitudinal waves, speed of wave motion, etc.

Basic concepts in Chemistry – Dalton’s atomic theory, concept of atom, Laws of chemical combination, Atomic and molecular masses, vapour density-definition, Relationship between molecular mass and vapour density, etc.

Solutions – Molarity, molality, normality, mole fraction, Vapour pressure of solutions and Raoult’s law, depression of freezing point, elevation of boiling point, osmotic pressure, etc.

Atomic structure – Atomic number and atomic mass, Balmer series, Paschen series, Brackett series and Pfund series, Explanation of origin of lines in hydrogen spectrum etc.

Polymers – General methods of polymerization – addition and condensation, copolymerization, some important polymers with emphasis on their monomers and uses, natural and synthetic rubber and vulcanization, etc.

Chemical thermodynamics – State functions, Spontaneous and non-spontaneous processes, First law of thermodynamics -internal energy and enthalpy, enthalpy of bond dissociation, combustion, formation, etc.

Chemical Kinetics – Commercial importance of rate studies, First order reaction, numerical problems, Determination of the order of a reaction by the graphical and the Ostwald’s isolation method. fractional order and pseudo first order reactions with illustrations, etc.

Periodic properties – Modern periodic law and present form of periodic table, comparison of size of cation and anion with the parent atom, Ionization energy, electron affinity, etc.

Admissions are not guaranteed to students if MET cutoff is met. Since other factors are also involved in allotment, just meeting cutoff may not be enough. However, it will give them higher chances of admission into their preferences.
