
MHT CET 2026: Maharashtra State CET cell conducts MHT CET exam for engineering and pharmacy admission to government and private colleges in Maharashtra. Registered candidates have to appear for the online computer-based test at various exam centres in Maharashtra only.
Starting this year, the MHT CET exam will be held in two sessions. Recently, the CET cell has revised the MHT CET 2026 exam dates for the PCM group exams to be held in sessions 1 and 2. However, the dates for the PCB group exam have not been changed.
The MHT CET 2026 exam date for session 1 PCM group has been revised to April 11 to 20, which was earlier April 11 to 19. The session 1 PCB exam date is unchanged, which is April 21 to 26, 2026.
The session 2 exam date for PCB is the same as before, that is, May 10 to 11, 2026. However, the session 2 PCM exam dates have been preponed to May 12 to 16 from May 14 to 17, 2026.
CET Cell will conduct a special registration for MHT CET 2026 with a late fee of Rs 500 on March 19 and 20 at cetcell.mahacet.org. In a major update, the authorities will release the MHT CET 2026 city intimation slip before the admit cards. Registered applicants will be able to access their city slips to know the city in which the exam centre will be located. What is MHT CET?
MHT CET is a state-level computer-based test held for engineering and pharmacy admission in the state of Maharashtra. It is based on the syllabus of the State Council of Educational Research and Training, Maharashtra, for an 80:20 weightage of class 12 to class 11th topics. Around 7 lakh candidates register for the MHT CET exam, and 6.5-7 lakh candidates appear every year. This year, the exam has reportedly seen the highest ever registration at 10.9 lakh.
Papers and groups in the exam
MHT CET exam has three papers (paper 1 is Maths, paper 2 is Physics & Chemistry, and paper 3 is Biology).
- Candidates interested in admission to BTech, BPlan, and integrated BTech-MTech courses have to attempt papers 1 and 2 (PCM group).
- Candidates who want to take admission in the BPharm and PharmD courses have to appear in papers 1 and 3 (PCB group).

Admission process via MHT CET
The candidates who appear for MHT CET have to check their MHT CET result and register for the MHT CET Common Admission Process (CAP) for admission to colleges. They also have the option of applying for BTech admission through JEE Main and BPharm admission via NEET in MHT CET CAP counselling. No. There is no minimum mark required to pass the MHT CET exam. The only requirement to get the scorecard is to appear in all subjects of MHT CET and obtain a non-zero score.

The syllabus of MHT CET is similar to class 11 and 12 however not all the topics of class 11 are covered in MHT CET. As per the official syllabus released by the Maharashtra CET Cell, only some topics of class 11 are covered in MHT CET and all the topics of class 12 are covered. Students can download the official MHT CET syllabus from Shiksha page or from the CET website.
Taking help of coaching is not necessarily required for clearing the MHT CET exam. Many students score good marks in MHT CET by self-studying, without help from coaching. To crack MHT CET without coaching, students need to make a study plan considering the time they have before exam.
Students can take help of online tutorials and videos from previous year toppers who have cleared the exam without coaching to understand their strategy. One thing that is required when students are not taking coaching is regular study.

This year, there are quite a new changes introduced to the MHT CET 2026 exam. Check the latest updates and changes in MHT CET 2026 below:
Relief for Aadhaar/APAAR Authentication for Genuine Reasons: Several candidates reported difficulties while completing Aadhaar and APAAR authentication during the CET 2026 registration process. Due to technical problems and other genuine issues, many students were unable to verify their details and proceed with the application form. From February 13, candidates who are unable to complete Aadhaar and APAAR authentication can fill out and submit their application form without the authentication.
Two sessions of the exam: MHT CET exam will be held twice starting from this year. Session 1 will be held in April and Session 2 in May. The decision was announced by Maharashtra’s Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, and also on the official website - cetcell.mahacet.org.
Aadhaar and APAAR ID Mandatory: CET cell has made the following documents mandatory for the MHT CET application process:

The CET Cell will re-open MHT CET application 2026 on March 19, and the forms will be available until March 20. The steps to complete the registration process were as follows. After the registration, candidates had to fill the application process by selecting the CET for their choice. Earlier, MHT CET registration 2026 concluded on February 24, while the late fee registration ended on February 27.
Getting registered at CET Portal
- Register: Visit the official website of the CET cell - cetcell.mahacet.org. Now register using the details asked.
- Verify: On submitting the details, a verification email will be sent to the email address. Go to your inbox and click on the verification link.
- Login: After verification of the email ID, candidates have to access the MHT CET login 2026, using the registered email ID and the password created during registration.
- Proceed to Digilocker: Candidates have to then click on "Proceed to Digilocker" to authenticate themselves with Adhaar and APAAR ID for MHT CET registration process.

After successful completion of the MHT CET application fee payment, candidates can take a printout of the filled form and keep it safe.
MHT CET Application Form Correction
The Maharashtra State CET Cell provided the facility to correct/modify the details in MHT CET application form in online mode. The MHT CET correction window was open from March 5 to 7. Candidates who wished to make changes to the details submitted in the form have to log in to the portal using their registered email ID and password. After login, candidates will find three new links under the "important links" Menu for MHT CET form correction.

Add Second Attempt: Candidates can add the second attempt for MHT CET 2026.

Allotment of MHT CET 2026 Exam Centres
This year onwards, the MHT CET exam will be conducted in the state of Maharashtra only. Earlier, the MHT CET exam centres were located outside the state as well. The decision was taken by the state authorities to strengthen the security and integrity of the entrance exam. In the past, there have been reports of irregularities at some out-of-state centres. This raised concerns regarding the transparency and conduct of the exam. Which is why it has been decided that the exam will only be conducted in Maharashtra.
Candidates are allotted an exam centre based on the choices of exam city filled by the candidate at the time of filling the application form. The exam city name and address allotted to the candidates are notified via the MHT CET admit card only. The exam city once allotted can not be changed. It is thus advised that candidates fill the exam city preference in the application form carefully.

CET Cell has released the MHT CET 2026 syllabus online. For PCB group, the syllabus is based on Physics, Chemistry and Biology of classes 11th and 12th and for the PCM group, it is based on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. 80% of the questions in the exam is based on class 12th topics, while the remaining 20% of the weightage is given to class 11th topics. The general category candidates must score at least 25% of marks in MHT CET. For SC/ ST candidates, on the other hand, minimum qualifying marks required in exam is non-zero score.
MHT CET is conducted for multiple courses and the syllabus is different for each course. Nationality and Domicile
Candidate must be an Indian citizen. Candidates fulfilling any of the following criteria are considered Maharashtra state domicile candidates:
- A candidate who is either a domicile of Maharashtra or born in Maharashtra.
- A candidate whose father or mother is domiciled in the State of Maharashtra and holds a Domicile Certificate.
- A candidate whose either of the parents is an employee of the Government of India or a Government of India Undertaking (PSUs) and is posted and reported for duty in Maharashtra State.
- A candidate whose parents are employees or retired employees of the Government of Maharashtra or a Government of Maharashtra Undertaking (PSUs).
- Candidates who have passed the SSC and/or HSC Examination from a disputed Maharashtra-Karnataka Border Area, or Maharashtra, residing in the disputed Maharashtra-Karnataka Border area, and whose mother tongue is Marathi.

It is not compulsory to attempt all the question in MHT CET exam. Students are advised to attempt only those questions for which they know the correct answer. Questions for which the answer is not sure should be left. However, as there is NO negative marking in MHT CET exam, questions for which answer is doubtful can be attempted in last. Candidates who have not applied or still have not appeared in MHT CET can participate in the counselling based on their JEE Main score. Those who do not have MHT CET or JEE Main score can also participate in counselling based on class 12 marks.
The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test Cell conducts the counselling in three or four rounds, depending upon the number of candidates participating in the counselling. The MHT CET CAP counselling 2025 had 4 rounds while in 2024, the counselling was conducted in 3 rounds.

MAHARASHTRA CET CELL mock tests are free and can be downloaded or practiced online. It is very important that CET aspirants regularly solve mock tests. The general category candidates must score at least 25% of marks in MHT CET. For SC/ ST candidates, on the other hand, minimum qualifying marks required in exam is non-zero score.
The facility to raise objections is not provided for the final answer key. Candidates are advised to check thoroughly the provisional answer key and raise objections in the provisional key only, if they have any doubt to the answer provided by the CET Cell. The facility to challenge MHT CET provisional answer key will be open after the CET Cell releases the key. The challenge facility will be open for a period of 2-3 days.
The facility to raise objections in MHT CET answer key is opened once the official answer key is released by the CET Cell. Candidates need to login to the official website mahacet.org using their registered email ID and password for raising the objection.
After login, candidates will see the answers to all the questions given and the answer marked by the candidate. If any candidate wish to raise the objection to any official answer, they need to select the respective answer and click on the raise a dispute option. Candidates also have to pay INR 1000 per question as fees for raising the objection.

With 97.5 percentile in MHT-CET, you have a strong chance to get admission in reputed colleges like PICT Pune, VIT Pune, SPIT Mumbai, or Thakur College of Engineering for branches such as IT, ECE, or Electrical. COEP and VJTI may be difficult for CSE. Government colleges like WCE Sangli, SGGS Nanded, and GCOE Amravati are also good options.
