Common Law Admission Test 2027 ( CLAT )

Rachit Kumar Saxena

By Rachit Kumar Saxena, Manager

The Quantitative Techniques section of the CLAT exam often tests candidates through CLAT Number System Questions. The section itself remains passage based. CLAT does not list Number System as a separate chapter. But divisibility, factors, HCF, LCM and remainders form the number base. Passage based questions build on this base. Candidates face basic property checks. They also face combined divisibility conditions, remainder patterns and multi step number reasoning. These questions range from easy to moderately hard. A good grip on this topic helps candidates calculate faster. This matters inside longer passages. Many students lose marks for a simple reason. The maths is not hard. They misread a divisibility condition. Or they skip a step in a combined check. Regular practice builds both speed and accuracy. Practice easy, medium and hard questions often. The sample questions and tips below will help candidates prepare well. Use them before mock tests and previous year papers of the CLAT exam 2027.

CLAT Number System Topic Breakdown

While preparing for the CLAT Number System topic, students are advised to have complete clarity on the following concepts:

Concept

What to Focus On

Number Types

Know natural numbers, whole numbers and integers. See how zero and negative values fit.

Divisibility Rules

Learn checks for 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 11. Most questions combine two or more of these rules.

HCF and LCM

Practice the listing method. Also learn HCF x LCM = product of the two numbers.

Remainder and Unit Digit

See how remainders work with addition and powers. Learn how unit digit cycles repeat.

Common Traps in Combined Conditions

Watch for numbers that pass one condition but fail another. Check every option before you pick an answer.

CLAT Number System Weightage & Exam Trend

Here is how Number System fits into your CLAT preparation strategy:

• Number System is not a separate scored section. It sits inside CLAT's passage based Quantitative Techniques format.

• It helps with passage-based questions. These ask candidates to calculate, compare or verify numbers.

• The Quantitative Techniques section carries the smallest share of the paper. Strong basics still help candidates finish with fewer errors.

• Candidates preparing for CLAT 2027 should treat Number System as a base skill. It speeds up passage-based calculation. It does not have a fixed yearly question count.

How to Prepare CLAT Number System in 2027

To prepare for the CLAT Number System topic, students can follow the tips given below.

• Learn all divisibility rules first. Then attempt combined condition questions.

• Practice HCF and LCM problems. Use both the listing method and the product relation.

• Attempt remainder and unit digit questions later. First make basic divisibility clear.

• Solve multi condition questions carefully. Check every option, not just the first fit.

• Revise common traps often. Do not assume a number fits only one condition.

CLAT Number System FAQ's

Below you will find CLAT Number System FAQ's

Q&A Icon
Commonly asked questions
Q:   Can I crack CLAT without studying Number System?
A:

Q:   What is the best time to start preparing for Number System for CLAT?
A:

Students should start early. Practice Number System alongside other Quantitative Techniques topics. Strong basics make combined divisibility and multi condition questions easier later.

Q:   Which is the best book for Number System in CLAT preparation?
A:

There is no single fixed book for this topic. Students often use standard Class 10 level maths books. Combine these with regular practice sets and previous year papers to build accuracy.

Q:   How do I improve my Number System skills for CLAT?
A:

Students can improve step by step. Learn divisibility rules. Practise HCF and LCM daily. Work through remainder questions carefully. Regular revision of common traps also builds accuracy and speed.

Neither CLAT nor SLAT is universally better. They serve different career goals, test styles, and college targets. Students who want to get into National Law Universities should appear for CLAT. The SLAT exam is held for admission to Symbiosis Law Schools.

Yes, for some of them. Bahra lists scholarships based on JEE Main marks and CLAT rank, along with BUSET, CAT, MAT, and CUET percentile scores. I am not sure about NEET, so confirm that with the admissions office.

No you don't need to memorise every section. Focus on important concepts key provisions definitions and CLAT style application questions. Understanding legal principles is more important than memorising section numbers.
