This section of the CAT exam requires extra attention from students of non-Engineering background as they leave Maths after class 12. Even for candidates with Engineering background, it is tough to crack this question, if they haven't done enough practice. Since this is one of the challenging sections of CAT exam, candidates must learn shortcuts and tricks that can help them save time and develop accuracy. It is difficult but not impossible. If you give yourself a good enough time to improve English comprehension, grammar and vocabulary, you will be able to do it. Yes, a non- English medium student will require longer time for CAT preparation as they will have to start reading and improving English comprehension. So, may be they need to start English preparation for CAT in the second year of graduation, instead of final year (much earlier than English medium students). They may also need two attempts to crack CAT with high percentile. But that's not true for all. If you work hard and study smartly, you will be able to crack it.
CAT syllabus is vast. It has numerous topics from Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation. Covering the CAT syllabus also includes practicing a variety of sample questions on the topics included. Thus, it requires a lot of time. Candidates must given themselves atleast 3-4 months to cover CAT syllabus and keep in mind the following:
· Check the previous years' CAT papers to know topics which carry more weightage so that you can focus on those topics more.
· List down topicsin order of easy, moderate and tough and allot time to them accordingly.
· Make sure to study about 6-8 hours per day to complete the syllabus 2-3 months before the exam.

To prepare for Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, stick to the traditional path of concepts first and practice later. Study English grammar and Verbal Ability first to understand the concept. Then practice a number of sample questions of different kinds to gain confidence, speed and accuracy. For RC passages, develop the habit of reading from early stages. Read books from all walks of life.
Practicing sample Reading Comprehension passages and questions in a crucial part of VARC preparation. This will help you understand the types of questions and RC passages asked in various entrance exams.
As an aspirant, you will be appearing for more than one entrance exam, thus you need to have the practice of different types of RC passages.
CAT Quantitative Aptitude has the potential of 100 percentile if you prepare well. The Quantitative Aptitude topics of CAT are advance level Mathematic topics from Class 9 and 10. So, for any candidate, the foundation is already there, they only need to work on it further.

Pay attention to CAT Quants sectional time limit
Time management plays an important role in CAT. The exam has sectional limit of 40 minutes for each section. While attempting mock tests, do not focus only on attempting the question. Focus on both speed and accuracy. It is advised to keep two minutes for every question in the CAT exam. In case it is taking more than two minutes to solve a particular question, it is advisable to move on to the next one.
CAT 2025 will be conducted on November 30, 2025 in three sessions. There is no change in the CAT Quants syllabus. Candidates appearing for the exam must keep the above mentioned points in mind while preparing for the Quant section. Regular practice and revision of important formulas can ensure a good score in CAT Quantitative Aptitude section.

CAT cut offs for IIM admission 2026 batch will not change. They will remain high between 92-100 percentile. Top 6 IIM cut offs will be between 98-100, while the cut offs for rest of them will be between 92-97.

There will be no option of result evaluation in CAT 2025. Candidates cannot challenge the scorecard. Marks and percentiles printed on CAT 2025 result cum scorcard will be final.

CAT result is not released offline. Candidates have to download it from the iimcat.ac.in website only. The scorecard is available for download for 1 year.
