In India, the doctors’ profession is regarded as the most respectful profession, and so each year there are thousands of students who put so much effort to prepare themselves for pursuing medical courses. Naturally, there might be confusion in their minds as to which field to pursue. For easing your confusion, this article will guide you as to which field is better, BAMS or MBBS.
Post completion of 12th PCB as well as clearing the NEET entrance examination, one can become eligible for both BAMS and MBBS. Both these courses are a 4-years programme and followed by an internship. When one pursues BAMS or Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, one qualifies as an Ayurvedic doctor. Then he/she can specialize as well as treat patients with the use of ancient herbs or medicines. Although this ayurvedic treatment is slow, yet in most of the cases this proves to be highly effective. Post completion of BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery), one can set up his/her clinic and practice ayurvedic treatments or even start a clinic or pharmacy stores. With BAMS there is another option of clinical research or trials. One can also pursue a course in Alternate medicine, panchakarma, naturotherapy, etc. Pursuing an MD or MS in Ayurveda is a good choice but one will not be able to pursue any other specialization that an MBBS aspirant can opt for.
Explore colleges based on NEET
Any MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) student can easily practice as a general physician who deals with minor ailments such as cough, cold, bruises, etc. These individuals can open their clinic and treat all patients for the mentioned ailments. They can even opt for an MD or MS degree in various genres such as Cardiology, Gynaecology, Neurology, Psychiatry, Endocrinology, Radiology, Immunology, etc. Also, they can opt for clinical trials or any alternate medicinal course.
This is to be considered that pursuing MBBS will open up more career options by specializing as well as treating patients in multiple ailments or even specializing in one. On the other hand, if you pursue BAMS then you will be able to treat with Ayurveda only and that too only at a preliminary stage. Another factor to be considered here is the pay structure. Pursuing an MBBS can fetch you good opportunities to earn huge, whereas with Ayurvedic treatment, although the treatment cost is significant due to the use of special herbs and plants, the scope of earning is not as good as that of MBBS. Also, aspirants need to consider this aspect as well as while choosing their best career that acquiring a seat in MBBS course is quite competitive and this requires plenty of work hard for around eight long years as MD for students to get well-placed and be successful.
So, now that you have got a deeper insight into both the courses, you can now go ahead and select what is best for you. The only thing to remember is that you should make your choice based on your interests in a particular field as this is about your prospects!

The majority of BPT colleges in Ahmedabad currently admit students on a merit basis. However, NEET will be an important factor in BPT admission across India from 2026-27. A big change that students ought to keep in mind while making plans.

Hi.
No, NEET is not required for every paramedical course in Delhi. It depends on the specific course and college.
For example, AIIMS New Delhi's B.Sc. Allied & Health Care (formerly B.Sc. Paramedical) courses use an AIIMS entrance examination, rather than NEET-UG. The 2025 admission process required
