NEET or the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is the biggest medical entrance exam in India. Over 22 lakh medical aspirants appeared for NEET 2025 held on May 4, 2025. The NEET 2025 result was declared on June 14, 2025. Out of 22,09,318 candidates who had appeared for the exam, 12,36,531 candidates have qualified. The highest obtained marks is 686 out of 720. The NEET 2025 cutoff has also reduced from last year. 

Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), NEET is the biggest medical entrance exam. While MBBS and BDS are the most popular choices of courses through NEET, several other medical and paramedical courses are offered through NEET. From the year 2021 onwards, BSc Nursing admission at top colleges is conducted based on NEET scores. Some of the above courses, such as BOTh, BASLP, BP & O conduct their admission through Maharashtra NEET counselling. On the other hand, not all the colleges offering the above courses accept NEET scores. The eligibility and admission criteria may vary from institute to institute.

The duration of the above courses is 5.5 years. The duration of paramedical courses such as BPT or BSc Nursing is 4.5 years. All these course curricula include one year of compulsory internship.

In India, there are a total of 780 medical, 313 dental, 914 AYUSH, and 47 BVSc & AH colleges which will accept NEET 2025 scores. There are a total of 20 AIIMS (functional) and two JIPMER campuses.
