Amrisha Khaitan is among the top ten candidates who have proven their mettle in the NEET exam. By scoring 715 marks out of 720 with a percentile of 99.9995611, Vineet Sharma from Mahendergarh has bagged All India Rank (AIR) 5 in NEET 2020. The NEET result was announced by the NTA on October 16, 2020. The young girl who aspires to take admission in the prestigious and top medical institute of the country, AIIMS New Delhi, is satisfied and happy with the result.
Amrisha, who belongs from a family of doctors, is inspired by her grandfather and parents. Her grandfather, Dr JP Khaitan, is the first doctor from Mehendergarh district in Haryana while her father Dr Anurag Khaitan is among the best urologists in North India and mother, Dr Anu Khaitan is a paediatrician. Amrisha’s elder brother is also pursuing MBBS from AIIMS.

Question: Congratulations on your NEET result! How are your feelings on this achievement?
Amrisha: I am happy and satisfied with my performance in NEET exam. My grandmother informed us about my result, and I was thrilled to hear about my All India Rank.
Question: What inspired you to choose medicine as a career? When did you decide to become a doctor?
Amrisha: I am very much inspired by my family. My grandfather and parents all are doctors. My elder brother is also pursuing MBBS from AIIMS. My grandfather was the first MBBS doctor in Mahendergarh, while my father is an urologist and mother is a paediatrician. I can’t tell when I finally decided to become a doctor but, it was way back and maybe I was pre-determined to become a doctor.
Question: Was this your first attempt? Did you take any coaching for NEET preparation?
Amrisha: Yes, this was my first attempt. No, I did not take any coaching for NEET. My parents helped me a lot by guiding me throughout.
Question: What was your routine for NEET 2020 before and after the lockdown? How much time did you devote to self-study?
Amrisha: It was almost the same, except before lockdown, I used to attend classes in my school and then came back home and study for 8 to 10 hours. And after lockdown, I used to study at home and devoted my maximum time t self-study.
Question: What was your exam day strategy?
Amrisha: I was very much confident on the day of exam. During NEET 2020 exam, I first completed my Biology paper, since it carries more number of questions and then Chemistry and Physics.
Question: Which college is your dream college for studying medicine? In which specialisation would you be interested in?
Amrisha: My dream medical college is AIIMS, New Delhi. I am still exploring this field and is not sure about the specialisation I will be doing my PG to progress my career.
Question: Which one is your strong subject and which one is your weak one?
Amrisha: I have a strong hold on all three subjects, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and have devoted equal time to each one of them.
Question: What kind of support did you receive from your family during the lockdown? What did you do to de-stress yourself?
Amrisha: As I said, my parents guided me throughout my NEET preparation hence, there support as mentors is highly appreciable. As they are my parents, I was much more comfortable in sharing my problems with them. To distress myself, I used to devote some time to draw paintings. I am very much fond of drawing paintings since my childhood and I get relief doing it.

No. NEET is mandatory for all MBBS admissions in India, government, private, deemed, or minority institution. The Supreme Court of India has made NEET the single entrance exam for all UG medical admissions across the country, and there are no exceptions.
