NEET 2020 Topper Interview: Vineet Sharma
Question: Congratulations on your NEET result! How are your feelings on this achievement?
Vineet: Thank you! I am very happy on the announcement of the NEET results. I was expecting 700 plus marks but not 715. I am much satisfied with the results.
Question: What motivated you to choose medicine as a career? When did you decide to become a doctor?
Vineet: I am very much inspired by former President APJ Abdul Kalam and is motivated by his quotes. After my class 10 exam, I decided to become a doctor.
Question: Tell us something about your parents. How did they support you in preparing for NEET 2020?
Vineet: My mother is a teacher in a government school and my father works as an auditor. In my every decision I had got their back. They have provided me every facility and freedom to do the things my way. Their support has been immense throughout.
Question: When did you start your preparations for the NEET exam? How did you go about it? Was this your first attempt?
Vineet: I started preparing for NEET 2020 two years back. I didn’t took any coaching and had made it on my own. I was completely reliable on self-study and made my own strategies.
Question: How come you are not attracted by the coaching institutes in big cities like Kota and Jaipur?
Vineet: The technology has minimised the differences in big and small cities nowadays. Beside this, the national level entrance exam is majorly based on NCERT syllabus and books and everyone has access to it. Also, most of the test series learning material is available online. Good access to the internet, self-determination and family support is all you need to achieve anything. So, I didn’t find it worth moving to a different city to take coaching.
Question: Which college is your dream college for studying medicine? What is your aspiration in the field of medicine and which specialisation would you be interested in?
Vineet: My dream college is AIIMS, New Delhi. I would like to pursue my medical education with a specialisation in neuro science. Neuro science is one of the most complicated fields in medical science, and there’s a huge scope in neuroscience research. I am fascinated to neuro science research because it has the calibre to discover simple remedies of various complex neurological ailments in an easy and affordable manner.
Question: What kind of support did you receive from your family during the lockdown? What you did to de-stress yourself?
Vineet: My parents have been a constantly supported me throughout and had made me believe in myself and my decisions. To de-stress myself, I used to watch motivational videos of former President APJ Abdul Kalam. At times I used to play cricket as well, but due to lockdown and NEET exam the playtime had gone down to almost zero.
Question: What would you suggest to future NEET aspirants in terms of preparation, attitude, etc?
Vineet: Keep your focus right on track and work hard towards your goals. Have trust in your own strategies and believe in your own decisions. Try to complete the NCERT syllabus thoroughly first, as the NEET exam is purely based on the same.
